Americans can now have a taste of the Ranger Raptor

MANILA: It has always been quite intriguing as to why Ford does not offer Ranger Raptor to the Americans. However, they have up for grabs the Ranger with a more powerful 2.3-litre EcoBoost inline-four motor.

This engine in its stock tuning can produce a maximum power of 270 PS and 420 Nm of peak torque. The Ranger Raptor which is a pickup that belongs to a different league altogether is an undeniable treat for the Americans, though.

And Hennessey Performance has done just that. No, the auto modifier has not sourced the Ranger Raptor from some other market. Instead,

it has sprouted a customised variant of the 2019 Ranger with parts from their VelociRaptor builds. The result? It is a Hennessey VelociRaptor Ranger, a regular Ranger, mimicking the Raptor with 355 PS of maximum power along with a peak torque of 520 Nm.

Talking about the performance stats specifically, the re-tuned motor on the VelociRaptor makes a good 81 PS and 100 Nm more than the same engine in stock tuning. The increase in the power is courtesy of the high-flow air induction system along with a stainless steel catback exhaust.

The 0-97 kmph run is now 1.3 seconds quicker at 6.1 seconds. The pickup also gets a 1 suspension lift that hoists the pickup by 4 inches. This special Ranger rides on 17-inch alloys clothed with BF Goodrich 285/70 all-terrain tyres. Up front, there is a roof-mounted LED light bar along with a VelociRaptor front bumper. Also, there are additional LEDs on the new bumper.

Hennessey will be building a mere 500 units of the VelociRaptor that will be available for $ 64,950 (around Php 3.386 million). In case the customer already has a Ranger and wants it to be upgraded with the mods, the package will cost $ 19,950 (roughly Php 1.040 million).
