BMW to showcase three electrified cars at Geneva Motor Show 2019

MANILA: BMW will be showcasing three plug-in hybrid models at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. While one of these plug-in hybrid cars, the 330e, will make its world debut, the X5 xDrive45e and the 745e will be at the display supporting the brand's EV fleet.

With the new plug-in hybrids, BMW is looking to offer a fusion of gas engine’s performance with hybrid’s efficiency. The 330e, which will be making its global debut, is equipped with a 2-litre turbocharged engine assisted by batteries.

The system can make a maximum power of 252 PS, the manufacturer has not revealed the torque figure yet. BMW has claimed that the car takes just 6-seconds to hit the 100 kmph mark. The engine returns a mileage of 59 kmpl, while its electric range is 60 km.

The X5 xDrive45e gets a 3.0-litre, inline-six engine, also assisted by the powerful batteries. It can churn out up to 394 PS of power and up to 600 Nm of torque. The batteries can provide a driving range of around 80 km.

The engine can deliver a mileage of 43 kmpl. The BMW 745e also shares the same under the hood setup as the X5 xDrive45e. The tuning of the engine is the same, and so is the power output. However, the mileage figure differs. The 745e can provide a mileage of 47 kmpl, whereas, its electric driving range is 58 km.

The plug-in hybrid models will be available in Western Europe and North America initially. As of now, the chances of these cars coming to the Philippines seem bleak.
