Ford Ranger Wildtrak X may come to the Philippines

MANILA: Ford is planning to increase the lineup of its iconic Ranger in the Philippines. Currently, the brand is offering Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 and the Raptor with a price difference of Php 303,000 in the country. There are chances that the carmaker will bring the new Ranger Wildtrak X between these trims.

If we talk about the availability of Wildtrak X in other countries, the model is already on sale in Australia and Thailand. Basically, ‘X’ suffix offers an accessories package to the buyers of the regular Wildtrak, which improves its off-roading capabilities. On the exterior, the new Wildtrak trim houses a black front nudge bar, a snorkel to take advantage of 800 mm water wading ability, and fender extensions. To complement the rugged look of the vehicle, the carmaker has opted for 18-inch wheels.

Under the hood, the Ranger Wildtrak X features the same 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo 4-cylinder mill, producing 210 PS of power and 500 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the wheels through the same ten-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of safety, the new Ranger is loaded with plenty of driving assistance appointments, which include an automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and active park assist. These features are not included in the Ranger Raptor specs sheet.

When it comes to the pricing, the X package costs around 101,700 Thai Baht. The overall price of the more rugged Ranger will stand around Php 1.8-million, if it comes to the country, which is quite costly but still less than the ongoing Ranger Raptor, selling at a price of Php 1.998-million.
