Geely produces healthier cars amid Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic

MANILA: Geely commits to manufacturing cleaner and healthier cars to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The vehicles will feature CN95 filters for the upcoming models to be introduced soon in the Philippines

Investing about US$53 million for this new technology, Geely will be the very first Chinese automaker to develop this type of air purification system. The German TÜV Rheinland Group authorized this system for its vehicles as well.

This step establishes a new trend in the advancement of safety technology. It goes beyond improving the leading outcomes of crash testing and moves into new areas of vehicle safety. This mainly includes driver health and welfare.

An Conghui, president of the Geely Holding Company and chairman and CEO of the Geely Auto Group, claimed that customers usually spend a lot of time in their cars. He explained that cars are the most popular means of transport, and car owners regard it as their "second home."

Conghui added that they could only fulfill the demands of consumers for improved quality of life through healthier and safer products.

The development trajectory of the automotive industry focuses on shared intelligence, connectivity, and electrified mobility. Automobile companies need to commit to manufacturing products that assist in protecting the safety and health of passengers and drivers. This became one of the primary long-term development goals of Geely Auto.

The main component of the air purification system of Geely healthy cars is its CN95 filter. This filter is set for future installation in the Geely Coolray.

Also, the R&D and design networks of Geely Auto in China, USA, and Europe will work together to create and study new eco-friendly materials. Such materials will be used in air conditioning systems and on commonly touched surfaces like handles and buttons.

The CN95 air purification system

Geely Auto has made good use of its global R&D program and expertise. The company was able to collaborate with competent medical and science research organizations and air filter companies to create the first high-efficiency automobile air-conditioning filter in China.

The CN95 features a high filtration capacity for both inert and airborne microbial particles. It inhibits minute particles by at least 95%. The CN95 filtration operates with the Intelligent Air Purification System (IAPS) of Geely vehicles to efficiently flush out droplets with diameters bigger than 0.74 microns, particulate matter (PM) 2.5 particles, harmful gases, and dust that are frequently attached to the Covid-19.

The CN95 air filter

The filtration capacity of particles having a diameter of 0.3 μm is higher than 95%. The XCrown virus adsorbs a filtration efficiency of 0.74 μ m droplets, and it has attained the level of the "N95" mask. It can remove the PM2.5 particles in the air efficiently, as it has an interception rate of 99.9%.

The carbon CN95 filter has the purpose of eliminating PM2.5 and odor removal. Some features also include sterilization, formaldehyde extraction, and anti-allergy. Simultaneously, it can absorb the smell of smoke and detoxify smoke particles.

The role of the antibacterial CN95 is to destroy mycete, eliminating 99% of the bacteria, staphylococcus aureus, and 95% of E.coli. The anti-allergy CN95 can also withstand above 90% of allergens from mites, pollen, dogs, and cats.

The CN95 air filter, therefore, is the most efficient filter media for contaminants like bacteria, dust, and smoke.
