Hyundai Motor PH turns over multiple Staria variants, other models to FIFA

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines Incorporated (HMPH) has turned over multiple Staria (in different variants) vans to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Hyundai Staria?

The Hyundai Staria is powered by a 2.2-liter engine with an eight-speed transmission.
  • How much power does it make?

    It generates 174 horses.
  • The turnover of vehicles-in-kind (VIK) was part of the carmaker’s long-standing partnership with the football club and was aimed at helping mobilize the delegation and officials of the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup event hosted in the Philippines.

According to HMPH, the turnover marked another milestone in its support for the sport, proudly continuing a relationship that began in 1999, when Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) became an official global partner of FIFA.

“We are honored to support FIFA as they bring world-class futsal to the Philippines for the very first time. Hyundai has been a proud global partner of FIFA for 25 years, and this local turnover is a meaningful extension of that legacy. By providing dependable mobility through our latest models, we hope to contribute to a successful tournament and to the continued growth of football and futsal in the country,” HMPH Managing Director Cecil Capacete was quoted as saying.

For those wondering, here are some quick details about the Hyundai Staria in the Philippines:

    Hyundai Staria specs

The Hyundai Staria is touted as a premium van here in the country. Its opulence is reflected in its exterior with upmarket features such as its full LED headlamps with daytime running lights, tinted brass chrome bumper, set of 18-inch tinted brass alloy wheels, gliding doors, parametric pixel light taillamps, and tinted brass chrome garnish on its power tailgate.

Inside, it gets a host of creature comforts like multiple seat configurations (some upholstered in premium Nappa leather), soft-touch surfaces, a 10.25-inch thin-film transistor instrument cluster, and an eight-inch floating infotainment system with voice recognition functionality, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity.

Occupants will also enjoy other convenience features like automatic temperature control, Bose-branded speakers, and a wireless charger.

Power comes from a 2.2-liter engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive capability. The said setup produces the following figures:

    Maximum power (in horsepower)

    174

    Maximum torque (in Newton-meters)

    430

Halts and deceleration are facilitated by a set of disc brakes, front and back. It also uses a MacPherson strut arrangement at the fore and a rigid axle five-link setup with coil springs at the rear.

The Hyundai Staria has a sticker price that ranges from P1.56 million to P3.03 million.

    Other Hyundai Staria turnovers

This is not the first time HMPH turned over a Hyundai Staria to an organization.

Sometime in 2023, the company handed over three Hyundai Staria Commuter units to the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Technology Information Institute

These have been utilized particularly by the agency’s pioneering project — the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS and its award-winning broadcast platform, DOSTv: Science for the People.

Likewise, Hyundai’s global arm provided a total of 30 Staria units to the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

These became the official transport vehicles of the delegation staff from participating countries. The Hyundai Staria was said to have been particularly chosen for its “impactful exterior appearance, its generously spaced interior cabin, its wide array of advanced safety features, and its highly versatile cabin.”

Other VIK turned over to FIFA

Aside from the slew of Hyundai Staria vans, the South Korean carmaker’s local subsidiary also turned over the following models:

The aforementioned automobiles were used to transport officials, athletes, and technical teams throughout the duration of the tournament, ensuring seamless and comfortable mobility across venues.

“The VIK turnover reinforces Hyundai’s belief in the power of sports to unite communities and inspire progress – above all, it serves as a reflection of the brand’s global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity,’ extending the brand’s mission of mobility outside the dealership,” HMPH wrote in a press release.
