Hyundai Tucson N Line, the seductive SUV unveiled
MANILA: Hyundai’s N Line has been known for providing the South Korean automobile manufacturer’s cars with that extra flair. Already responsible for giving birth to the likes of i30 N and the Veloster N, the N Line has this time around given its flair to the compact SUV,
Tucson. Hyundai did already tease the automobile world with a few images of the Tucson N Line no too long ago and the unveiling is just the end of an impatient wait.
While the Hyundai N Line tinkers with pretty much all the aspects of its cars, the Tucson, however, does not get any significant mechanical updates and the changes are very much limited to the looks of the SUV. The revision does update the handling of the Tucson, though.
Built using a conventional Tucson as the foundation, the N Line SUV gets both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options and a set of three engines to choose from. The first model is powered by a 1.6-litre CRDi motor that makes 138 PS of maximum power.
Moving on, the second variant features a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine churning out 180 PS. The third and the final trim of the Hyundai Tucson N Line gets a 2.0-litre CRDi mill throwing out a maximum power of 188 PS. The two diesel variants also come equipped with Hyundai’s new 48-volt mild hybrid technology.
These fuel burners in conjunction with the hybrid system should prove to make the Tucson more fuel efficient. Bettering the handling performance of the compact SUV are the remapped Motor Driven Power Steering System and suspension settings.
The steering on the Tucson N Line should now have a more direct and linear feel, thanks to a software update. Moving to the design elements, a dark mesh-pattern grille bordered by dark chrome gives the front end a muscular and classy appeal and the redesigned bumpers are the other partners in crime.
The Tucson N Line rides on 19-inch alloys and also gets side mirror housings and a rear spoiler which have been done in black. Darkened window frames, body-colored door handles, mean LED DRLs, and sexy fog lamps also play their part in providing the compact SUV with a menacing look.
Hop inside the Tucson N Line and you’re greeted with N-branded leather-suede sport seats. Red accent stitching can be seen on seats and steering wheel. The N gear shift lever also gets leather and red accent stitching treatment.
While the unveiled Tucson N Line is exclusive for the European market, at least for now, the South Korean automaker may gift other markets with the mean machine in the near future.
