Is this the 2020 Chevrolet Tracker?
MANILA: It is no mystery that the crossover and SUV market has been rising up with all the force. The interests of the population have been changing and drifting towards the subcompact crossover from hatches and sedans for quite some time now.
Considering this drift of interest, manufacturers have also shifted their emphasis towards the segment. With numerous crossovers already in the stores, Chevrolet, the subsidiary of GM Motors is all set to jump into the flowing river.
A couple of images of the upcoming subcompact crossover have been released by the manufacturer. The car in the images with the Tracker badge should be replacing the on-sale Trax in the ASEAN market.
As a matter of fact, the Tracker is not a new name. Chevrolet sold a crossover in the past with the same title. However, until 2016, the car sold was a rebadged version of the Suzuki Vitara. Looking at the new Tracker, there are no after effects of the Suzuki Vitara whatsoever on the crossover. Inspired by the Chevrolet Blazer,
the Tracker has done away with the curvy appearance of the Trax and now boasts a lot more prominent creases. Talking about the size of the new Tracker, the subcompact crossover stands 4,248 mm long, 1,674 mm wide, and 1,766 mm tall.
The front fascia of the Tracker features a lifted hood, lower-mounted grille, and a pair of slimmer headlamps. The stylish bumper on the Tracker houses vertically stacked LED DRLs on either end.
Just like the Blazer, the Tracker is bolstered by a character line that starts from the front quarter panels and goes all the way to the taillights were it angles upwards. There is also a third window on the subcompact crossover. The intention behind including a third window could either be to let more light inside the car to increase the visibility.
A taillight spoiler is formed on the Tracker due to the sloping roof at the rear end. Thanks to the extended shoulders, the Tracker boasts a wider stance. The hexagonal taillights and the thick cladding provide the crossover with an eye-catchy appearance. While the new Tracker is all set to arrive in the Chinese market soon, we expect Chevrolet Philippines to bring the subcompact crossover to the Filipino shores as well.
