New Mitsubishi Strada rear end spied

MANILA: It was just about a month ago when spy shots of the new Mitsubishi Strada started flowing over the internet. Following the spy shots was a teaser image of the Strada’s new front end. From the spy shots and the teaser image, the speculations were brought to an end, and it was confirmed that the 2019 Mitsubishi Strada is indeed coming and that too with a completely restyled exterior.

The latest bubble is formed by the spy image of the redesigned rear end of the 2019 MPV. Just as the front end, the rear also takes clues from the Montero Sport with its revamped tail-lights having the similar teardrop effect. With a C-shape design at the top, the LED taillights are extended till the bumper of the 2019 Strada. The redesigned bumper is now more conventional and the tailgate also appears to be flatter, unlike the present Strada. The 6-spoke alloy wheels with wider fenders are also part of the new design. The interior of the 2019 Strada is expected to be revamped as well.

On the mechanical front, no information has been made available yet. However, it is expected to carry forward the last gen turbocharged 2.4-litre motor from the on-sale Strada. But the Japanese manufacturer might just want to retune the engine for more power which at present produces 181 PS and 430 Nm. More power will also aid in increasing competitiveness among the competitors. The present Strada comes with an option of either a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. But with so much of inspiration from the Montero Sport already, it is worth guessing that Mitsubishi might bring the Sport’s 8-speed automatic unit in the 2019 Strada.

Going by the reports, 9 November 2018 will be the day when the all 2019 Mitsubishi Strada makes it way to the launch pad.
