MANILA: After months of anticipation and delays, Nissan Philippines is finally fulfilling its promise of bring in the future of mobility to the country.
Pinoy EV fans can rejoice as the all-new 2021 Nissan Leaf will finally be launched here.
The Nissan Leaf is a fully electric vehicle that was built with long-term sustainability in mind. It was claimed that its global consumers had powered their units for a total of 16 billion kilometers, preventing the release of approximately 2.5 billion kilograms of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Powered by a 40KWh electric motor, the all-new 2021 Nissan Leaf makes the equivalent of 148hp and 320Nm of torque. There are no RPMs necessary, unlike internal combustion engines where you have to rev the engine up to reach the optimal power band. The most significant feature electric motors such as the one in the Nissan Leaf have is to have instant power on tap. This creates an indescribable sense of thrust that you would have to experience to believe. Range is estimated at 311 km in a single charge, reducing range anxiety among potential buyers.
The all-new 2021 Leaf also has Nissan’s advanced vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology which uses a two-way charging feature. The energy that is stored in the car battery can also be used to supply power to home and office — even directly back to the power grid. Nissan Philippines showcased this last holiday season by lighting up a giant Christmas tree in Ortigas Center and offering a shining symbol of hope and a bright future for Filipinos for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future.
Nissan’s Leaf has sold more than 500,000 units since it was first introduced 10 years ago and has won awards around the world including Car of the Year 2011 in Europe, World Car of the Year 2011, and Car of the Year Japan in 2011 and 2012.
