PH-spec Mitsubishi Versa Van to get updates?

MANILA: Is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) updating the Versa Van?

The speculation arose after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) released a homologation paper bearing the nameplate’s basic specifications and classification for the 2027 model year.

This comes as the industry waits for the Japanese automaker’s local distributor to share details about the vehicle.

Vehicle specifications

Crosschecking the documentation with the current offering, the model has basically retained its overall dimensions, measuring:

Overall dimensions (length, width, height; in millimeters [mm>)	4,710 x 1,990 x 1,695
Wheelbase (in mm)	2,555
Gross vehicle weight (in kilograms)	3,400
Tire size (in inches)	15 (front and rear)

The powertrain will be pretty much the same: a 2.5-liter diesel engine, likely still equipped with a turbocharger, mated to a manual transmission.

With all these details stated in the government documentation, the upcoming Mitsubishi Versa Van will likely receive updates in terms of exterior aesthetics, added amenities, or a redesigned interior—meaning there might be only minor upgrades.

Other possible upgrades that the new 2027 Mitsubishi Versa Van could have include leatherette seats (for easy cleaning), more bottle holders, revised air-conditioning vent placement, and the use of LED bulbs for the headlamps and taillamps.

Meanwhile, this Nissan Urvan counterpart from Mitsubishi is anticipated to retain its 15-seat configuration, 65-liter tank, wide sliding doors, dual front airbags, and the following features:

• 15-inch wheels with hubcaps
• Single-DIN stereo
• High-mount stop lamp

With the expected updates, the Mitsubishi Versa Van will likely see an increase from its current P1.649-million price tag.

To recall, MMPC brought back the iconic nameplate to the local market last February.
