Thailand gets the new Suzuki Jimny, is the Philippines next?
MANILA: Suzuki Jimny is quite famous in various parts of the globe because of its exceptional off-road capabilities which are clearly superior to its overall body structure. It was last month when Suzuki unveiled the fourth generation of the car, and now latest reports suggest that the new Jimny has been confirmed for Thailand.
Thailand is one of the first markets to get confirmation for the latest Jimny. However, it is still uncertain whether Suzuki is going to locally assemble the car at its production facilities or import it from Indonesia or Japan.
The way Suzuki Jimny has created a space in the hearts of millions around the world, everyone’s looking forward to seeing the new model in flesh. Also, expectations from the new Jimny have skyrocketed considering the fact that the ongoing model hardly disappointed the fans.
To make sure that the fourth generation Jimny exceeds the expectations of the public, Suzuki has given its all. And it can be clearly seen. The new Jimny has been incorporated with features like a ladder frame; three angles, three-link rigid axle suspension with coil springs; and part-time 4WD with low range transfer gear (2H, 4H, 4L), to continue to excel in off-road conditions.
To further enhance its off-road reach, the Jimny comes with an approach angle of 37 degrees, ramp break over angle of 28 degrees, and a departure angle of 49 degrees. These numbers help it to tackle up and down of hills with ease.
The new model has got two variants - Jimny and Jimny Sierra. While Japan will be the only market to enjoy both the options, the remaining world will be sharing only the latter. The difference between the two variants is that the Sierra is a tad bit generous dimensions, and gets a bigger engine - a 1.5-litre unit that produces 102 PS of max power and a peak torque of 130 Nm. It comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Even though it is now official, we are still waiting to get any solid dates regarding the price and launch of the new Jimny in Thailand. Also, it is being anticipated that Suzuki is considering the Philippines as the next country to launch the latest Jimny. We will be on top of this and will be bringing latest updates at the earliest, so stay tuned.
