VelociRaptor Ranger by Hennessey is a crazy powerhouse

MANILA: The Ford Ranger Raptor is a cake too delicious to miss out on. However, the American automaker has kept its own people deprived of one of the best pickup trucks in the world. Coming in as a piece of good news for the Americans is the introduction of the Hennessey VelociRaptor Ranger. The modified Ford Ranger looks good, has got some insane power under that hood, and most importantly, is available for the Americans.

Continuing to chant about power, the Hennessey VelociRaptor Ranger houses under its hood the same 2.3-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine that powers the standard Ranger as well. Inside of the VelociRaptor though, the same mill now generates a maximum power of 365 PS and 596 Nm of peak torque. These figures are way better than what the same engine produces in its stock tuning - 274 PS and 420 Nm. The increment in power and torque is all due to the ECU re-mapping and new a stainless-steel cat-back exhaust.

With the more power available in its arsenal, this VelociRaptor Ranger can do a 0-97 kmph run in a mere 4.9-seconds. When we compare these number to the Ranger Raptor, the latter seems way too slow as it takes more than ten seconds before crossing the 100 kmph mark. More mechanical changes include eighteen-inch alloys clothed with BFG off-road tyres and a ‘Stage 1’ suspension system by Hennessey that lifts the pickup by four inches. Both the new suspension and the wheels contribute to an added height of 6-inches.

In terms of changes on the outside, the front bumper has been heavily modified and comes with its own LED lights. Price, well the Hennessey VelociRaptor Ranger gets a price tag of $ 64,950 (Php 3.37 million). Not only the price of this crazy Ranger is on the higher end of the spectrum, but the production limited to 500 units also leaves no stone unturned in adding insult to injury.
