Dimensions
To help motorcycle buyers see if the all-new Yamaha Aerox is a good fit for them, size-wise, here is a quick look at its dimensions:
|
LxWxH (in millimeters [mm>) |
1,980 x 710 x 1,170 |
|
Wheelbase (in mm) |
1,350 |
|
Ground clearance (in mm) |

|

As the numbers above suggest, the all-new Yamaha Aerox would suit riders with a medium to large build.
The decent ground clearance allows one to sit atop the saddle comfortably without having to stand on one’s toes when at a standstill.

The seat height also allows for good posture while enjoying a commanding view of the road ahead.
Fit, finish
The all-new Yamaha Aerox looks striking with an abundance of sharp angles, straight bodylines, and some curves here and there.
At its fore is a new set of headlamp that follow the angular design language the sporty automatic scooter now wears.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaThe Standard variant gets an interesting forged carbon fiber-looking trim under the headlight, which we totally dig. The fascia is broad with some sculpted fairings and leads up to a short, sporty windshield with a transparent, smoked effect.
On each side are angular mirrors alongside its handlebars with soft rubber grips.
Making daily drives more pleasant is a pair of step boards with ample space. The inner fairings also sport the same faux forged carbon fiber accents — providing the motorcycle some level of design continuity.
Its seat is wide with ample cushioning, signaling comfort even in long rides.
At the back, the all-new Yamaha Aerox gets a sporty taillamp with sleek turn signals protruding on each side. The tapered hind of the motorcycle gives it a more aerodynamic appeal.

Powertrain, chassis
Powering the all-new Yamaha Aerox is the refined 155 cubic-centimeter Blue Core engine that generates the below figures:
|
Maximum power output (in horsepower) |
15 |
|
Maximum torque (in Newton-meters) |
14.2 |
The reliable and economical gasoline-fed powerplant is paired with a V-belt automatic transmission system, which makes riding and handling the all-new Yamaha Aerox quite easy.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaHalts and deceleration are facilitated by a set of disc brakes (both measuring 230 mm), front and back. These discs rest on 14-inch wheels shod in 110/80 and 140/70 tires at the fore and at the rear, respectively. They look chunky and reassuring as they evoke an air of stability.
Serving as the frame of the automatic scooter is a backbone chassis where its suspension system is mounted. At the front, the all-new Yamaha Aerox gets a telescopic fork, while the rear has a unit swing suspension with two shock absorbers.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaLooking at the above specs, the all-new Yamaha Aerox is durable and reliable, which is what most people look for in a daily driven motorcycle.
Tech, safety
The all-new Yamaha Aerox is equipped with decent technological amenities that are geared to make one’s ride more convenient.
Kicking the riding and ownership experience up a notch is the digital meter panel of the automatic scooter. It displays relevant information in crisp detail — even in broad daylight.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaIt is also equipped with the Yamaha Y-Connect system, which lets owners integrate their smartphones with their motorbikes. Using the said feature, rides can receive real-time data on fuel efficiency, engine diagnostics, battery status, maintenance reminders, and even letting them locate where they last parked.
For when the time to juice up one’s devices comes, it offers a USB type-C charging port that can recharge gadgets like smartphones and other handheld electronic items.
When it comes to safety, the all-new Yamaha Aerox takes advantage of its good illumination system, reliable disc brakes, and wide tubeless tires.
Sportier SP trim
Those who want a sportier ride can choose the all-new Yamaha Aerox SP. It builds on the features of the Standard model, but gives its owners a more dynamic experience thanks to a host of performance enhancements.
First, let’s look at its unique cosmetic features:
- Red accents under the headlamps
- Red trims on the inner fairings
- Seat with “Aerox” script as well as red stitching
- Rims finished in red paint
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaWhile it uses the same 155 cc engine, the one fitted on the range-topping model now packs the Yamaha Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission, which — unlike conventional continuously variable transmissions — eliminates the use of flyballs, to give way to the addition of a three-level downshift control.
The said feature lets riders choose from three shift levels to let them tailor their bike’s deceleration and throttle response. As a result, they can get quick bursts of power as well as slow down in a controlled manner when taking on sharp curves.
This feature can be accessed via a switch on the left side handlebar. The said control system is also where one can cycle through the all-new Yamaha Aerox SP’s digital display since it packs a more advanced instrument panel, which took design cues from Yamaha’s R-Series sport bikes.
From its three-dimensional digital display to the clip-on style handlebar layout and layered dashboard elements, it exudes the vibe of a track machine. Speaking of which, the top-of-the-line model has Sport and Touring modes. The former is tuned for a more responsive and dynamic riding experience, while the latter provides a smooth response.
Should owners feel like taking the all-new Yamaha Aerox SP to the track, they can make full use of its track display feature, which can record track data. When going on rides to visit hole-in-the-wall coffee shops outside the metro, the automatic scooter’s turn-by-turn navigation will prove to be useful.
In the areas of safety, the all-new Yamaha Aerox SP has the following features:
- Single-channel anti-lock braking system on the front wheel
- Traction control system
- Emergency stop signal
- Rear sub-tank suspension
Track tested
To prove the all-new Yamaha Aerox and Aerox SP’s mettle, YMPH brought the motorcycle to Clark International Speedway (CIS) along with members of the Aerox Club Philippines (ACP), who tested the two-wheeler on the track.
Ensuring safety, participants were given a full brief before hopping on the automatic scooter. They were also required to wear full racing gear before entering the circuit.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaOnce done, they were able to experience the capabilities of the motorbike in a controlled environment where they could safely push the all-new Yamaha Aerox and Aerox SP to the limit.
