2019 Nissan Navara gets interesting upgrades for the European market
MANILA: Recently, Nissan launched the 2019 Navara pickup truck in the European market. However, it took the Japanese automaker around a month to get the sales of the revisited pickup truck going. Better late than never, right? So, with the 2019 Nissan Navara sales up & running in Europe, here we bring you more details about what all changes does the pickup boast. Read on to know.
For starters, the 2019 Nissan Navara can do a 0-100 kmph run in 11.2 to 12.5 seconds before topping out at 172 to 184 kmph. We have mentioned ranges instead of pin-point number because these figures vary depending on the variant. Courtesy of the reduced vibrations, shorter gear lever, and enhanced synchronization, the six-speed manual gearbox is smoother than ever before. Also, revamped gear ratios have resulted in improved fuel efficiency and lower noise levels. The reverse gear has also been repositioned and now sits next to the first gear.
Just like the six-speed manual, the seven-speed automatic transmission has also undergone some hammering and is now more responsive and refined. Coming on to the heart of the 2019 Nissan Navara, while the maximum power output still sits at 190 hp, the peak torque has gone up to 425 Nm. The increase in the torque and refinement of the engine has transpired due to the adoption of twin turbochargers, higher-pressure common rail direct injection (2,200 bar from 2,000 bar), lower compression ratio (15.1 compared to 15.4), and fresh diamond-like carbon coating for piston rings.
Nissan has also upgraded the brakes on the pickup truck. The front discs now measure 320 mm and the rear brakes are also now disc type with 308 mm rotors. The new brakes require 40% less pedal force compared to the previous setup and the braking distances have been also reduced. The variants which come equipped with stability control system also get the Intelligent Trailer Sway Assist feature that adjusts the brake force on each wheel depending on the conditions.
With so many mechanical upgrades, how could Nissan not address the suspension on the Navara? The all-new 2019 Navara now boasts a ground clearance of 238 mm to 242 mm depending on the variant. The water wading capacity, however, remains unaltered at 600 mm. The rear suspension is now up by 25 mm and the pickup truck features a maximum payload capacity of 1,115 kilograms to 1,180 kilograms.
With the 2019 Nissan Navara up for sales in the European market, we expect Nissan Philippines to treat the Filipinos with the upgraded pickup truck sooner than later. While we are certain of not receiving the updated engine, other mechanicals upgrades should make their way to the Philippine-spec Navara for sure. In the Asia-Pacific market, the 2019 Nissan Navara should first land on the Thai shores and then crawl towards the Philippine market.
