2019 Porsche Macan hits production at the Leipzig plant

MANILA: Super car fanboys would definitely anticipate the launch of any new model on the pipeline. Hence, offering this delight to those crazy auto followers, Porsche has begun with the production of the 2019 Macan at the Leipzig production facility.

The 2019 Porsche Macan was first shown in July 2018 with some refreshments on the design front and a host of new features. It has a sportier aesthetic than the outgoing predecessor. The front section has LED headlamps as standards and there are bigger air intakes too. At the rear, the tail lights are completely different along with a strip of LED light.

Get to the inside of the facelifted Porsche Macan, you will notice a newly-designed dashboard that has a big 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display. It works on the same software system as Porsche Cayenne. Also, there is a relatively newer safety system which includes the traffic jam assist, OffRoad precision app and adaptive cruise control.

It is to be noted that the first 2019 Porsche Macan will be delivered to China, which has become the biggest market region for the car. In fact, since its launch in 2014, the company has registered over 100,000 bookings in the country. Having said that, the company is even looking to increase the production capacity to 420 units a day in order to meet the high demand.

The Chairman of the Porsche Leipzig Gmbh production plant, Gerd Rupp, did mention that the Macan is a very successful model for the company. Back in 2011, the Leipzig plant was expanded to accommodate this SUV, which included a paint and a body shop. From 2014, the plant had a capacity of 40,000 units a year, which is now 90,000 a year. And till date, it has produced and delivered over 350,000 units of the Macan around the world.
