2019 Toyota Vios details leaked ahead of the official launch

MANILA: The brochure snapshot of the 2019 Toyota Vios has been leaked ahead of its official launch slated to happen on Friday this week. Though we didn’t expect much change in the mechanical department, the brochure title read All-new Toyota Vios. Here’s what the new sedan has to offer.

There are now six variants available namely - 1.3 L, 1.3 J, 1.3 E, 1.5 G, 1.3 E Prime, and the 1.5 G Prime that come with a significant cosmetic upgrade as compared to the older Vios.

Starting off with the base 1.3 L and the J variants, both are powered by a 1.3-litre dual VVT-i engine that produces 98 PS of power and 123 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both the models come with 14-inch steel wheels. A new standard feature on both the models apart from the ones on the outgoing Vios is the new Bluetooth-supported audio system.

The Vios 1.3 E variant levels up the offerings chart with additional features like 15-inch alloys, premium trim pieces, two additional speakers, a 7-inch touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additionally, it comes with an option of a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission.

The higher-end 1.5 G variant, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder dual VVT-i engine that churns out a max power and torque of 106PS and 140Nm respectively, mated to either a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission. Additionally, it gets two drive modes, Eco drive and Sport. It features projector halogen headlamps, auto climate control, DRLs, six speakers, and discs on all four 16-inch wheels.

What’s exclusive on the brochure is the inclusion of two brand new variants, 1.3 E Prime and 1.5 G Prime. Both get aesthetic-upgrade in form of rear spoiler, piano black mirrors, and skirts for the front, rear and sides. Moreover, the Vios 1.5 G Prime is available only with a CVT system.

The new Vios comes with a pack of safety features that are standard across the entire range. The standard safety column includes seven airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Stability Control.

The customers get an option to choose from 9 different colors that are, however, variant-dependent. What’s unknown at this point in time is the  2019 Vios price which will be announced on the launch day itself. Stay tuned with us for more information.
