A common platform to underpin the likes of Toyota Hilux and Tundra

MANILA: In the future, we might see Toyota vehicles like Hilux, Tundra, Tacoma, and others to feature a common platform, as the brand moves forward developing a universal foundation for its vehicles.

According to the news floating around, we have come to know that the Japanese automaker is working on a new platform that has been given the codename “F1”. Reports say that this new platform will be a global foundation that will underpin numerous Toyota pickup trucks and pickup bases SUVs.

What else we have got to know is that the new foundation is being developed considering electrification of the vehicles it is going to underpin. While Toyota has not uttered a word about this new platform, speculations say that the 2020 Toyota Tundra could very well be the first vehicle to feature this newly developed platform. Until then, let’s hold our horses and let the time bring to us what’s inevitable.
