Ford Everest 2019: What to expect?
The other best thing that Ford does apart from making some spectacular vehicles is naming them. Yes, that’s right. Ford’s nomenclature for its products, especially for the SUVs, is something that we’ve always appreciated. Explorer,
Expedition, Everest; don’t these machines do justice to the meaning of their names? They do, right? And soon, out of these three very capable SUVs, we are going to get an updated version for 2019. Any guesses? It’s the Everest. Let’s see what should we expect from the 2019 Ford Everest.
Ford Everest 2019 is already available in a few markets. Ford first launched the new model in Australia and then in our neighboring country Thailand. However, we are still waiting for it to reach our shores.
If you remember, Ford Philippines teased a picture of the Everest 2019 on its Instagram account. However, the post was quickly taken down. Was it a marketing strategy or a mistake, we will never know. This happened in December 2018. So, one thing that we do get to know from this incident is that Ford is planning to bring the new Everest in the Philippines, but the question is, when?
The new Everest isn’t going to be a significant upgrade in terms of aesthetics. We can say that because it’s already being sold in the aforementioned countries. Therefore, it’s most likely that we are going to get the similar-looking model.
There are a few changes that we are expecting in the new Everest. Ford might introduce a new front grille design to spice things a bit. Also, there could be a revised front bumper to go along with the new grille. These two changes can drastically enhance the off-road stance of the Everest.
Another minor tweak that could happen is the LED daytime running lights. Ford might play around with them, and we could see a thinner strip in the 2019 model. Ford would also include new 20-inch wheels in the new Everest. However, these might be available in select variants only, perhaps, the ones placed at the higher end of the ladder.
These were some of the minor changes that we can see in the new Everest. Keeping them aside, we are more interested in the other Ford Everest 2019 specs, i.e., engine options. The 2019 model that is currently being sold in Thailand features a 2.0-litre Turbo EcoBlue TDCi and a 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo engine. The ongoing Everest specs for our country have a 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre engine options. It’s possible that Ford will replace both these with the ones that are available in the Thailand model.
The new 2.2-litre engine is tuned to produce around 180 hp of max power at 3500 rpm whereas the peak torque of 420 Nm kicks in from as low as 1750 rpm. On the other hand, the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo engine churns out 213 hp at 3750 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. This is the same engine that we’ve seen in the Ford Ranger Raptor. The two new engines would be mated to Ford’s new 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Ford has already kept us waiting for too long to see the 2019 Everest. Even now, there is no official statement or any information or details regarding the same from Ford Philippines. Being optimistic, we hope that Ford brings the new model in the country very soon.
Ford Everest price of the ongoing model starts at Php 1.52 million and goes up to Php 2.29 million. Expect a hike in the price of the new model. Right now, there are seven different colors in which the Everest is available - Blue, Aluminum Metallic, Metropolotian Grey, True Red, Sunset Red, Cool White, and Jet Black - and perhaps Ford would introduce a few more shades for the new model.
