Hyundai teases first images of redesigned Tucson
MANILA: On September 2, Hyundai Motor Company revealed the first images of its forthcoming all-new Hyundai Tucson.
New design features include the latest iteration of the iconic headlamp architecture of Hyundai, known as Parametric Hidden Lights as well as a dual-cockpit layout that provides instinctively optimized customizable space for an advanced user experience.
The photos that were shown suggest advanced features suitable to the classic pioneering spirit and boldness of the Tucson.
Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center SangYup Lee said, “The mission of ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ is to elevate the emotional qualities of automotive design. We want our customers to feel moved. With the all-new Tucson, we are introducing its ultimate evolution and a definitive statement about Hyundai’s unstoppable forward momentum. Tucson’s advanced experimental design is true to its pioneering spirit and raises the game in the industry’s most competitive segment.”
For the fourth generation, Hyundai upgraded the all-new Tucson in terms of its automotive design. This paves the way for it to be the first C-SUV in its category to be available in two varied dimensions while sharing a similar name.
The brand persona of Hyundai's “Sensuous Sportiness,” which was first launched on the new Elantra, adds an emotional boost to the avant-garde Parametric Dynamics design concept of the Tucson.
The innovative exterior design of the all-new Tucson reflects “Parametric Dynamics.” This particular design theme involves dynamic jewel-like surface features that will enable people to take a second look at the vehicle.
The Parametric Hidden Lights offer a powerful first impression. These iconic DRLs (day running lights) are incorporated smoothly into the jewel-like grille, exposed only when switched on.
The body of the new Tucson is wider and larger compared to the previous-generation models. It has long hood as well as short overhangs on a stretched wheelbase that in turn, brings a coupe-like character to it.
From its side, angular body panels provide a different interpretation of the parametric configuration. Chiseled surfaces produce a remarkable contrast between the masculine wedge and the sleek silhouette. This signifies forward motion regardless if the vehicle is standing still.
Taut sporty forms smoothly combine into angular wheel arches, wherein the alloy wheels offer a dynamic and powerful stance.
The "interspace" or spacious interior of the all-new Tucson appears to be similar to a neatly arranged room where daily concerns and worries vanish, unlike the atmosphere of a modern boutique hotel where convenience and comfort are highly prioritized. In the new Tucson, details, technology, and space merge pleasantly.
The evolution of the interior layout of the Tucson results in a lower instrument display and the elimination of the gauge cluster housing for a decluttered area.
Layered, luxurious forms enhance the vehicle's sense of transparency. The wide ridge of the dashboard integrates smoothly with the doors, surrounding like a deep gorge around the driver and the front passenger.
The vertically positioned, completely incorporated center fascia depresses to the console similar to the movement of a powerful waterfall. Double silver garnish lines running from the center fascia to the rear doors blend neatly layered premium surface materials in harmonious neutral tones.
The global debut press conference of the all-new Hyundai Tucson will be streamed virtually on September 15 at 9:30 a.m. KST (8:30 a.m., Philippine Time).
