Mitsubishi ready to launch two variants of 2020 Montero Sport in the Philippines

The pickup based SUV, Mitsubishi Montero Sport already offers noteworthy features to its customers which mainly include soft, plaint ride and revolutionary turbo-diesel engine.

Though to keep the things equivalent to the rivals or to counter them, the automaker will be launching the 2020 Montero Sport sooner than we think. The upcoming Montero Sport variants and their prices have been released by the sources.

It is expected that the 2020 Montero Sport will come in two variants initially- first is Montero Sport GLS 4x2 and the second one- Montero Sport GT 4x2. From this, it can be inferred that the firm has dropped the GLS Premium variant in favor of the GT 4x2 and now the top-spec variant will come in two-wheel drive.

Apart from the fresh look, Montero Sport GLS will feature LED headlights and in comparison to the 2019 model, it comes with more safety features. The base model will include a new fully-digital LCD instrument cluster, stability and traction control (Mitsubishi Active Traction and Stability Control or MASTC), hill-start assist, and trailer sway control. The digital instrument cluster is new for 2020.

When it comes to GT, it gets two additions from the GLS. Firstly it has a tailgate spoiler, just like the current 4x4 variant. And secondly, it includes a power tailgate, to keep in line with the competition. 

On the mechanical bits, it is the same as earlier. Both variants are powered by the 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo-diesel mill mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. And most probably, the manual transmission has been dropped for now.

Moreover, the reliable sources disclose that the 2020 Montero Sport will come as a two-wheel drive in the starting and later on four-wheel-drive will be launched. The released prices for the Montero GLS 4x2 starts from Php 1,769,000 and for the GT 4x2 starts from Php 1,998,000.
