Mitsubishi updates Xpander, Xpander Cross in Indonesia

MANILA: Mitsubishi has updated the Xpander and Xpander Cross multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) for the Indonesian market. The two models received a good amount of new features, which the Japanese brand says make for a more modern, family-friendly seven-seater.

For their exteriors, the recently launched Indonesian-spec Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross now wear more intricate-looking grilles. Both also come with new front bumpers, with the one on the Xpander Cross boasting a heftier, more rugged look. The two MPVs likewise received redesigned side skirts, new rear bumpers, and body-colored door handles.

Beyond the aforementioned changes, the two nameplates largely kept the old exterior feature set from the pre-facelifted version. 

Here are the dimensions for the updated Mitsubishi Xpander (top-spec Ultimate) and Xpander Cross (Premium) in Indonesia:

Inside, the top-spec trims for the updated Xpander and Xpander Cross in the Indonesian market received a larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a new eight-inch digital gauge cluster. 

Furthermore, the two rides were also kitted out with a new middle headrest for their second rows. 

In addition to the standard safety gear carried over from their previous versions, both Mitsubishi models now come with a total of six airbags and a 360-degree view camera. The Xpander, in particular, was also fitted with the brand’s Active Yaw Control system. 

For their engines, the Indonesia-spec Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross have carried over the same 1.5-liter inline-four gasoline mill found on the pre-updated versions. 

At maximum, the aforementioned four-banger can produce up to 103 horsepower and 141 Newton-meters of torque. In Indonesia, the said engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.
