Toyota PH warns public against online scam using its name

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has released an official statement regarding an online scam circulating on social media sites. The message invites people to click a link in exchange for free gifts. The message claims that the promotion is part of Toyota’s 80^th anniversary.

In a statement, TMP said, “Recipients are strongly advised not to click on the link and to refrain from forwarding the message. The message leads to a deceptive website that will attempt to steal personal information and data.”

TMP encourages recipients who have clicked on the link to change the passwords of the accounts involved and activate two-factor authentication to improve security.

TMP also reminds the public to scrutinize every message received, especially the ones that promise prizes or free gifts for activities the recipient did not register for. It also mentioned that the company and its entire dealer network do not any for any private information through unauthorized channels.
