KEY TAKEAWAYS

It is named Yamaha Aerox E.Where will it be manufactured?
It will be made in India.Of note, the nameplate is well-received by the Indian market as well as enthusiasts here in the Philippines, with new iterations (all-new Yamaha Aerox, Aerox SP) released locally not too long ago.

Appearance
While no official specifications have been released at the time of writing, the Yamaha Aerox E looks a lot like its gasoline engine-powered counterpart.
Presented is a beefy body with some aerodynamic-looking fairings. At the fore is a short, smoked windshield flanked by angular side mirrors. The front cowling houses a two-part headlamp system, which we assume uses LED technology.
The short fender houses chunky wheels in spoked rims that cradle a single disc brake, likely with anti-lock braking system.
From the side profile, the Yamaha Aerox E also looks identical to the maxi scoot we see plying Filipino roads. The fairings are the same; the seat, as cushiony; save for the blue colored drive system that appears to have replaced the traditional exhaust pipe.
It also looks to get a disc brake at the back with the long rear fender sporting turn signals that protrude from the side.
Riding experience
It is interesting to see what kind of riding experience the Yamaha Aerox E delivers. We assume that the dynamics and handling would be comparable to non-electric models, but the instantaneous acceleration and speed that electric drivetrains are known for could really change how maxi scoots are seen and used by enthusiasts.
In addition, the newer versions of the Yamaha Aerox have a three-level downshift control that mimics how manual transmissions behave and offer additional power and safer decelerations. It would be intriguing to see how an electric drive system can emulate the said feature.

Bound for PH?
The Yamaha Aerox E is one of the brand’s “high value-added models” developed in line with its premium segment strategy for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region and other emerging markets, as outlined in its Medium-Term Management Plan.
While we believe that there is a possibility that the product would reach Philippine shores, chances of it being done is slim as the country has yet to have the infrastructure support it.
