2018 Isuzu RZ4E Fuel Eco Challenge winners get fully-paid Thailand trip
MANILA: In the world of sky-high fuel prices, we all want our vehicles to be fuel efficient, don’t we? Most of the manufacturers boast about their new technologies which make their vehicles more fuel efficient than the others, however, very few of them are actually able to deliver on the promises they make.
But a vehicle with a refined and economical engine does not always mean that you will be able to achieve better fuel efficiency. Isuzu Philippines Corporation organised the “2018 Isuzu RZ4E Fuel Eco Challenge” where the contestants drove their mu-X RZ4E and D-Max RZ4E in order to achieve the highest fuel efficiency.
The contest which began as early as in September 2018, 27 finalists showed their skills on the day of the final for the one last time. On a 10 km route around the Isuzu Philippines Corporation headquarters in Binan, Laguna, the finalists drove their vehicles on 26 January.
At the end of the competition, three winners were awarded an all-expense paid trip for two. Speaking statistically, the mu-X drivers averaged 17.4 kmpl combined, while the D-Max drivers achieved an average fuel economy of 19.7 kmpl.
Hajime Koso, IPC president said, "Isuzu Philippines Corporation has always valued, and strove for, not just power and reliability in all its vehicles, but also fuel efficiency. Our RZ4E Blue Power engine epitomizes our effort to produce the most fuel-efficient diesel engine,
capable of producing more power for less fuel, which is a perfect match to our economical drivers. It is a very timely reminder that, despite the prevailing volatility of fuel prices in the market, Filipino drivers can save more on fuel expenses with the help of a fuel-efficient partner, the Isuzu mu-X and D-Max RZ4E”.
With the 2018 Isuzu Fuel Eco Challenge, Isuzu Philippines Corporations aims at showcasing the efficiency, power, durability, and ride comfort of its new vehicles. Isuzu was also encouraging its current and potential customers about fuel-efficient driving. 2018 Isuzu Fuel Eco Challenge also had Shell Philipinas as the official fuel partner for the event. The exact fuel economy achieved by different drivers with their respective mu-X and D-Max are as follows:
