Nissan GT-R NISMO is now a part of Lego Speed Champions range
MANILA: If you’re dying to get your hands on a Nissan GT-R Nismo but can’t afford one, we have the next best thing for you—a Lego version of the real thing.
Nissan just teamed up with the Lego group to announce the new addition to the beloved toy’s Speed Champions line. The unveiling was done at Nissan's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan with Lego Group CEO Niels B. Christiansen and Nissan executive vice president Asako Hoshino leading the event.

This is the first time when Danish toy company and the Japanese carmaker teamed up for a project. The Nissan GT-R Nismo will join other supercars like 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, Ford’s Le Mans GT, McLaren Senna, and Lamborghini’s Huracan Super Trofeo Evo racer and Urus ST-X rallycross to have a Lego Speed Champions set.

Speaking about the partnership, Nissan’s Asako Hoshino said, “Many of our Nissan customers can trace their automotive passion back to when they built LEGO cars as children. With this partnership, everyone can be a ‘Takumi’ – the specialized craftsmen that build the GT-R.”
Lego's lead designer Chris Stamp said of the collaboration, “Authenticity is always our main concern, and we spent a lot of time exploring different building techniques to correctly recreate the taillights, as they are one of the most recognizable details on the car.”

Both Lego and Nissan were both quick to clarify that the tiny Lego version of the supercar will not have the same performance specs as the real thing. The only things the two have in common are their looks and the endless hours of fun from playing with the cars.
The Current Nissan GT-R Nismo, which has been in production for a decade, is capable of delivering 600 hp of power and can go from zero to 96 km in 3 seconds and composed of 90,000 individual pieces.

On the other hand, the Nissan GT-R Nismo Lego Speed Champions set is made up of 298 Lego bricks to replicate key details of the Japanese supercar including the iconic GT-R tail lights, a quad exhaust system, a big rear wing, and a sizeable front splitter. The new 2020 Speed Champions Lego sets are 25 percent larger than the previous models giving the new sets more aggressive stances and higher piece counts.

If you’re thinking of getting yourself the Nissan GT-R Nismo Lego Speed Champions set for Christmas, you will have to wait a bit longer. The Lego set will go on sale in the coming January 2020.
