As for the car itself, it received various improvements, ranging from enhanced performance to fewer complications when it comes to handling and overall management.
As a side note, Porsche has also switched up the naming convention for its customer race-spec models. Moving forward, the “911 Cup” moniker will remain exclusive for vehicles intended for one-make races. Cars that are built to compete in open-brand racing events, meanwhile, will carry the “GT” name.
Porsche 911 Cup: powertrain specs
As shared by the Stuttgart-based company, the all-new Porsche 911 Cup is based on the 922.2 generation of its iconic 911 sports car. It is also built at the brand’s main plant in Zuffenhausen alongside the marque’s production series models.

The model also has a sequential six-speed dog gearbox, a four-disc metal racing clutch, and an automatic engine restart function, which is activated by the clutch pedal after an accidental stall.
Stopping power for the vehicle is provided by front and rear disc brakes, with the former having an increased thickness of 35 millimeters (mm). The braking system also received further support from a Bosch M5 race-sped anti-lock braking (ABS) system, an enlarged brake fluid reservoir, and an upgraded disc brake cooling system.
Similar to other previous one-make Porsche race cars, the all-new 911 Cup uses a set of Michelin tires. Clients can also choose between three different exhaust system packages.
Race-ready amenities
Inside the Porsche 911 Cup is a cockpit equipped with everything a racer would want. It has a multi-function steering wheel with dedicated rotary toggles for ABS and traction control, a central control panel, foam-padded door cross bars, a tire pressure monitoring system, a GPS antenna, and an electronic monitoring system for its automated fire extinguisher.
To note, the central control panel mentioned above alleviates the need for an exterior device (such as a laptop) to adjust crucial parameters. Specifically, it has eight buttons that can adjust pit lane speed, exhaust mapping, and steer angle reset - among others.
On the outside, the Porsche 911 Cup looks like the road-legal 911 GT3, but it now sports a more aggressive appearance thanks to a three-piece front spoiler lip, integrated fender louvre vents, turning vanes on the front wheel arches, and a sizeable “swan-neck” rear wing.
