This is the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, most probably
MANILA: We all know that the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport will be coming out in the flesh on 25th July 2019. And, just like any other launch, the major event has started to be preceded with a teaser, and our favourite, leaks. It has been a week since the automaker itself released the teaser when the upcoming SUV’s front fascia and digital instrument cluster were the major highlights of the short video. Following the teaser, we now have some images of the SUV which show the pickup platform vehicle undisguised.
Just as we expected, the front fascia of the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is reminiscent of the automaker’s much popular pickup truck Strada. Upfront, a three-slat matte chrome grille is flanked by a two-tier lighting setup. There is also a large blacked-out honeycomb mesh-type grille on the front bumper. Then there is a chunky skid plate, which also seems to be finished in matte chrome. As a whole, the front end of the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport looks fantastic and provides the SUV with an amazingly refreshed appearance.
There is also an image of the interior that has been leaked. We got to know by the teaser itself that the revamped SUV will be featuring an all-digital instrument cluster. The availability of the amenity across the range remains a mystery though. Moreover, the leaked image of the interior shows off a cabin more or less similar to what we find on the current-generation Montero Sport. We better wait for the official unveiling before making significant speculation, shouldn’t we?
Moving to the rear end of the SUV, the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport can be seen housing a shortened version of the LED taillamps. The rear bumper has also been equipped with a new garnish. As expected, a new set of alloy wheels keep the SUV planted on the road. Lastly,
the 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel is expected to be carried over to the refreshed 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. In its current state of tune, the turbo-diesel makes 181 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 430 Nm. The power figures seem just fine and we don’t see Mitsubishi going bonkers and making any changes to the powertrain.
