2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4: What is new?
Mitsubishi came up with the Mirage G4 to get a hold of the growing sedan market in the Philippines. Considering the popularity of the Mirage Hatchback, Mitsubishi had a good amount of confidence that the Mirage G4, which is nothing but a four-door extended version of the original Mirage, would be able to help the company to grow in the competitive segment. Now, there is an updated model of the Mirage G4 (2018) and Mitsubishi has done a few changes in it to make it more approachable for potential customers. Here are the new things that you are going to find in the new Mirage G4.
Redesigned rear end
Mitsubishi is aware of the fact that both the Mirage and the Mirage G4 are good-looking cars. So, it decided not to alter many things on the exterior front of the 2018 Mirage G4. But since it is a new model, Mitsubishi had to make some noticeable changes. So, it went ahead and tweaked the design of the rear portion of the car.
The 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has got a set of redesigned tail lights. Also, the rear bumper is now a bit ‘extended’ than that of the outgoing model. These two alterations supposedly give the car a bit of more sporty appearance. The extended rear is just for the sake of visual appeal, and this has nothing to do with the boot space of the updated Mirage G4. You still get 450-litre of truck space in the new model.
We do not have any complaints with the way the outgoing model of the Mirage G4 looks, but hey, any good update is always welcomed with open arms. The 2018 Mirage G4 appears to be a tad bit newer than the outgoing model, and maybe it would be successful in getting more customers.
New alloy wheels
The 2018 Mirage G4 has also been given a set of new alloy wheels. Mitsubishi says that these new wheels are equipped on both the GLX and GLS variants of the new Mirage G4. The size of the new wheels is 15-inch, and are wrapped with 185/55/R15 tires. To keep things more interesting, Mitsubishi has given an option of going with a dark chrome finish on the new alloy wheels on the GLS variant.
It is good to know that Mitsubishi is taking care of such details. Many people think that the wheels are just wheels, but they are not aware of the fact that not only play an essential role in ensuring proper functioning of the car, but also the way it looks from the side. The new Mirage G4 would continue to show off its handsome looks from the side with the new alloy wheels.
New color options
Even after a car has got a very stylish design, it is not going to be desirable if it in not complimented by a good color scheme. The outgoing model of the Mitsubishi Mirage used to come in 9 color options - Wine Red, Cool Silver, Pyrenese Black, Savanna White, Virgil Gray, Aurora White, Majestic Red, Medium Blue Mica and Sunrise Orange. Now, with the updated Mirage G4, Mitsubishi has added two new color options for its customers. There is a new Sundance Orange that will be available only with the GLS variant. And then we have the Wine Red Pearl color.
New interior features
Just like the exterior of the 2018 Mirage G4, the interior, too, has been given very subtle updates. Here you will find a more stylish and improved instrument panel. Mitsubishi has introduced this system in the updated Mirage hatchback and now thought of incorporating it in the latest Mirage G4.
Apart from the new instrument panel, the 2018 Mirage G4 also gets a new illuminated gear shifter panel. This is another addition to making the car a bit more premium. This feature is available only in the CVT variants.
While the outgoing model of the Mirage G4 has a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the new model has got a slight increase in the screen size. The GLX variant features a 7-inch touchscreen whereas the GLS models get 6.75-inch units. The functionalities of all the screens are the same, with GPS navigation as standard.
The rest of the interior of the outgoing model and the new model is the same with features like the three-spoke steering wheel that comes with leather wrapping in higher variants, centre console box between the front two seats for storage, comfortable seats, etc.
With the 2018 Mirage G4, Mitsubishi has tried to get a stronger grip in the sedan segment. The latest model is a slight update over the previous one. Apart from the changes mentioned above, the rest of the car has been left as it is. If we talk about the 2018 Mirage G4 specifications, it continues to extract power from a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control System (MIVEC). It produces a max power of 78 PS at 6,000 revs and generates 100 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 revs. As far as the transmission is concerned, you get to pick between a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Another aspect that we like about the Mirage G4 is that Mitsubishi has given some of the basic safety features as standard across all the variants. These features include dual airbags (driver and passenger side), ABS with EBD, brake override system (BOS) and an emergency stop signal (ESS).
The 2018 Mirage G4 price list is as follows-
- GLX 1.2 M/T – Php 666,000
- GLX 1.2 CVT – Php 717,000
- GLS 1.2 M/T – Php 769,000
