Ford Everest - 5 Reasons why you should buy

The Ford Everest was one of the first next-gen mid-size SUV to be launched in the Philippines ahead of Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport. This new vehicle was considerably different from the earlier SUVs such as Ford Ranger. The company had upgraded the previous models on several fronts making Everest way better than its predecessors. Today, the Ford Everest is a formidable mid-size SUV that is nearly flawless. Let us look at some of the reasons why you should buy a Ford Everest.

Ford Everest Front

The Style

The exterior design of the Everest is muscular courtesy its octagonal chrome front-grille along with projector halogen headlight and daytime running LED light system. The design is aggressive and sleek which is in line with the competition in this segment. It is built on a true body-on-frame chassis giving it a bold and macho look sought in such a vehicle. The massive 20-inch six-spoke alloy wheels will definitely catch your attention. The c-shaped lights at the rear complete the unmatched look of the beast.

Interiors

Ford Everest cabin

The interior is very spacious with enough space that will give you a roomy feel. The foldable second and third-row seats result in massive cargo space. The chrome bits distributed throughout the cabin enhance the interior space. The glove box compartment is large enough to hold a 16-inch laptop. The seats are covered with contrast stitched leather, while the rest of the interior is built with top-quality plastic. The front seats with manually-adjusted lumbar support make the ride even more comfortable.

Engine performance

Ultimately, the engine performance is what defines the success of an SUV. The Ford Everest is powered by a 4-cylinder 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine capable of delivering 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque. While the engine size may appear unpowered, the performance is remarkable due to the variable-geometry turbine and common-rail diesel technology. The throttle response and torque are impressive ensuring a smooth ride. Add automatic transmission to the mix, and driving the Ford Everest is as enjoyable as it can get.

Ford Everest engine

The robust and stable engine performance is enhanced by the Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system. With the abundant traction offered by the Everest, navigating harsh terrain is very easy. The Everest is equipped with an 80-litre fuel tank which should be sufficient for long journeys. The vehicle delivers an average fuel efficiency of 9 to 10 kmpl on highways and around 8 kmpl in the city.

Infotainment

If the specifications mentioned until now have not convinced you to purchase a Ford Everest, the additional features offered will undoubtedly do so. The dashboard design is similar as the one on Ranger, with the multi-function steering wheel. Ford has introduced the all-new SYNC 3 infotainment in the Everest, replacing the SYNC 2, which were seen in the Ranger models. The SYNC 3 comes equipped with a standard navigation system as well as has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Ford Everest dashboard

Ford offers a bunch of other features which is usually not seen in the mid-grade variants. Users get power folding side mirrors, semi-digital instrument panel, 10-speaker audio system, cruise control with adjustable speed limiter, 8-way power-adjust driver's seat, and automatic dual-zone climate control. The car does not lag behind in the safety features with some beneficial ones such as cross traffic alert and lane-keeping assist. Everest can park itself too, when and if it detects suitable parking space.

Ride and handling

Ford Everest rear

The Everest is light and comfortable to drive especially beneficial for beginners. Manoeuvring the vehicle is easy, both at low and high speeds. The handling is firm on highways as you continue hitting high speeds. The suspension and chassis are impressive ensuring a smooth ride over most road imperfections. The body roll is also minimal to a certain extent.

The Ford Everest is priced at Php 1,399,000 for the lowest variant and Php 2,239,000 for the top variant. The Ford Everest is a solid choice with superior exterior design, well-thought interiors, additional features, and smooth handling. It has got plenty to make your money’s worth.
