Ford ‘Raptor’ trucks, SUV showcased in Dubai dunes

Ford Motor Company recently took its off-road-ready Raptors out to play in the dunes of Dubai. 

The models showcased were the Ford Ranger Raptor V6, F-150 Raptor, and Bronco Raptor. 

Ford Ranger Raptor V6 

The Ford Ranger Raptor V6 is probably the model our Filipino readers can relate to the most. First introduced in limited quantities at last year’s Philippine International Motor Show, the marque’s local subsidiary decided to make it a mainstay in its lineup. 

Here, the pickup truck is offered with the following powertrain specifications: 

 

Engine	3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo (gasoline)
Transmission	10-speed automatic transmission with electronic shifter
Maximum power output (in hp)	391
Maximum torque (in Nm)	583

In addition, the Philippine market Ford Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6 also gets a Baja mode with an anti-lag system for off-road use and a class-exclusive electronically-controlled active exhaust system. 

Complementing the abovementioned powertrain setup are off-road-specific appointments, which we have listed here:

Ford F-150 Raptor 

The Ford F-150 Raptor is only currently available in markets like the United States (US) and Canada, but homologation papers released by the Land Transportation Office sometime in August last year suggest that the nameplate could be making its way to Philippine shores. 

While we await its local release, here are the specifications offered by the global model:

Here are some of the technologies that add to the Ford F-150 Raptor’s off-roading capabilities:

• Sport-tuned Fox Racing Shox with Live Valve technology (front, rear)
• Electronic-locking rear differential 
• Skid plates
• 17-inch cast aluminum wheels
• LT315/70 R17 BFGoodrich all-terrain T/A KO2 tires

Below are its optional appointments:

In the US, the 2025 Ford F-150 Raptor starts at $79,005 or approximately P4.53 million. 

Ford Bronco Raptor 

Now outdoor enthusiasts who want to maximize the interior space offered by Ford’s off-road offerings can look to the Bronco Raptor for an answer. 

It drops the rear bed for third-row seating and a roof that extends up to the back of the sport utility vehicle (SUV). 

Here are the specifications of the US-market Ford Bronco Raptor:

Maximum power output (in hp)	418
Maximum torque (in Nm)	440

Below are the off-road features offered by the SUV:

• Ford HOSS (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) 4.0 with Fox Live Valve 3.1 internal bypass semi-active dampers
• Advanced 4x4 with automatic on-demand engagement
• 17-inch black high gloss-painted alloy wheels 
• 37x12.5R17 BSW A/T all-terrain tires

Optionally, buyers can get upgraded components, which include an engine block heater and a set of 17-inch Dark Carbonized Gray Alloy-painted, beadlock-capable forged wheels. 

American customers can purchase the Ford Bronco Raptor starting at $90 ,035 or around P5.165 million. 

Ford Philippines already brought the Bronco nameplate to the country, although the brand is yet to introduce a Raptor-spec version of the SUV. 

Thoughts 

Ford has already made a name for itself when it comes to producing tough trucks, and the aforementioned models could well find a good following here in the Philippines. Not only do we have avid outdoor enthusiasts, but the country has plenty of places that can put the said Raptors through their paces. 

In addition, Ford Philippines recently launched the Mobile Service Vehicle program that can help passenger car and fleet owners perform maintenance servicing of their vehicles right at their doorsteps. This and the brand’s improved parts distribution capabilities could help strengthen the proposition of bringing in more performance-oriented vehicles.
