For those who have been paying attention to the latest automotive industry updates here on Zigwheels Philippines, you’ll know that the next-generation Toyota Hilux is coming.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
When and where did Toyota initially launch the next-generation Hilux?
The next-generation Toyota Hilux was first introduced in Thailand in November 2025.What are the engine options of the next-generation Toyota Hilux?
In Thailand, the next-generation Toyota Hilux is available with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel, a 2.8-liter turbodiesel mild hybrid, and a dual motor all-electric variant. But for people who missed it, the model was first introduced in Thailand back in November 2025. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), meanwhile, confirmed that it will be rolled out locally in 2026. No exact dates were provided just yet, but we are pretty sure that this all-new model will catch a lot of attention.
The Toyota Hilux, after all, is a consistently big market-mover for TMP. There’s also the fact that the pickup truck segment is one of the most popular (and one of the most competitive) segments in the country. So, understandably, the Toyota Hilux is one of the vehicles that we're excited to see get a local launch this 2026.
But what can we expect from the upcoming next-generation Toyota Hilux? Let’s check out its specifications in the Land of Smiles to find out.
Next-gen Toyota Hilux: specs
For its powertrain options, the next-generation Hilux in Thailand comes with three: the familiar 2.8-liter turbodiesel mill, a 2.8-liter turbodiesel mild hybrid, and a dual-motor electric version.
The electric dual-motor variant is called the Toyota Hilux Travo-E, and it can produce up to 193 horsepower (hp), while providing a range of 315 kilometers (km). Charging the said model is done via a CCS2 direct current (DC) port with a maximum power capacity of 125 kilowatts.
On the other hand, the internal combustion-only 2.8-liter turbodiesel and mild hybrid versions can generate up to 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Available transmissions include a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual.
To note, TMP has not confirmed if the Hilux Travo-E will enter the local market, but wishful thinking says that it will be a good addition to Toyota’s and Lexus’s local electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
All versions of the next-gen Toyota Hilux in Thailand utilize a ladder-frame chassis that either comes with a rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive layout with a rear differential lock. Additionally, the 2.8-liter turbodiesel models now come with an engine start-stop system, which is touted to provide better fuel-efficiency.

Appearance-wise, the next-gen Toyota Hilux sports a more angular lower front bumper paired with a flatter-looking mesh grille. The said bits are flanked by sharp LED headlamp clusters, and it is topped by a muscular hood with prominent bulges on its sides.
Like the older locally sold version, the next-gen model’s side portion of the vehicle sports side step boards, chunky fender flares, and power-folding/adjust side mirrors. Most higher-spec trims in Thailand also come with a sports bar and a bedliner.
Particularly notable in the Thailand lineup of the Toyota Hilux is the Overland, which was appointed with additional equipment. The aforementioned includes more underchassis protection, hexagonal grip side steps, black exterior mouldings, and a beefier sports bar.

For its central display, the next-gen Hilux was equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Topping up devices inside the vehicle is done via USB ports and a 12-volt accessory outlet. Audio output, meanwhile, is distributed inside the vehicle’s cabin by an eight-piece speaker set.
