2019 Isuzu mu-X facelift is here

MANILA: The year 2019 has just started, oh well, we are already approaching the end of February. Time flies by, doesn’t it? Anyways, the folks at Isuzu have been quite busy since the beginning of the year.

And now, the Japanese manufacturer has come up with a facelifted version of the mu-X for the Thai market. While there next to no mechanical changes, the cosmetic changes have been made both on the outside and inside of the pickup-platform vehicle (PPV).

For starters, the updates on the front start with a mildly revamped bumper featuring a darker than before cladding. The pieces are color-keyed on the limited edition models, though.

The centre air intake slats also stand out than what we saw on the pre-facelift model of the mu-X. Moving to the rear, it has gone under the same hammer and also features the same darker cladding. The new mu-X rides on some nicely designed 18-inch alloys.

An image displaying very little of the interior of the Onyx edition is the only piece of info we have that depicts the inside of the new mu-X. Just like the name, there are multiple gloss trimmings on the Onyx edition.

Moreover, there are also leather seats and ambient LED lighting on the doors. We have already seen these features in the limited edition mu-X model named Luxe which is sold in the Philippines. The rest of the stuff on the SUV is expected to similar to that on the LS-A models in the past.

Talking about the things under the hood, while the 4x2 models get their power from a 1.9-litre BluePower unit, the 4x4 variants house a 3.0-litre BluePower motor. The 1.9-litre models also feature a stop/start tech. With the help of this peculiarity, the system automatically shuts the engine down whenever the SUV is in a standstill position. What’s even better? Once the brakes are released, the system automatically starts the engine back again as well.

As the 2019 Isuzu mu-X has already hit the Thai market, we expect the updated SUV to make its way to the Filipino roads pretty soon.
