2022 Nissan Leaf features refreshed look, smarter tech

MANILA: Nissan has officially unveiled the 2022 Leaf in Europe, giving a fresh glow to the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle (EV). The new Leaf features a more head-turning look and cutting-edge technology.

The 2022 model is a revision of the highly successful Leaf. It comes standard with a tried-and-tested suite of advanced driving assistance systems like ProPilot, as well as infotainment technologies like the on-board NissanConnect system.

“The Nissan Leaf has always been about making advanced technology and the thrill of electric driving accessible to everyone with over 577,000 customers worldwide. Leaf has been designed around families’ needs to offer seamless connectivity and an efficient powertrain,” Nissan AMIEO Region Vice President for Product Strategy and Pricing Arnaud Charpentier stated.

The 2022 Leaf features significant exterior design revisions from the wheels up, boosting the dynamism of the sedan’s distinct appearance. Nissan’s new brand logo is also featured on the wheels, front grille, and rear.

The 2022 Leaf comes in two battery options that delivery up to 239 miles of autonomy (Leaf e+). It integrates and efficient electric driving experience with comprehensive driving assistance and connectivity technologies, supplemented with over 10 years of Nissan EV expertise and innovation.

The ProPilot technology allows the Leaf to automatically stop, start, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, while the groundbreaking e-Pedal allows it to accelerate, decelerate, and stop with just one pedal for maximum comfort while driving.

The on-board NissanConnect system on the 2022 Leaf also comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.

Leaf owners may also use the NissanConnect Services app for remote operation of features like climate control. They can even connect their Leaf to Amazon Alexa smart home device for further convenience.

“As the popularity of electric vehicles continues to grow, Nissan is pursuing an exhilarating chapter in its electric mobility story. Leaf has played a key role in shaping Nissan’s vision for empowering mobility and beyond, as we leverage our EV expertise to launch 23 new electrified models — including 15 full EVs — by fiscal year 2030,” Charpentier added.

The 2022 Nissan Leaf will go on sale in Europe beginning March 1, with prices starting at £26,995.
