Check out the 50th Anniversary special edition of Nissan GT-R

MANILA: Nissan is on the way to commemorate its performance legacy this year. After launching the 50th Anniversary Edition of Nissan 350Z, the brand rolled out the special anniversary edition of its iconic GT-R.

The 50th Anniversary model has already made its debut at 2019 New York International Auto Show earlier this year. And now, the model is previewed at 2019 Thailand Motor Expo.

Alike 350Z, the GT-R special edition also incorporates appearance changes only. On the exterior, the model comes with a two-tone color treatment having a broad over the top stripe, which is specially designed to admire classic GT-R racing liveries.

For this, customers can choose from three colour schemes available- White with red stripes, Silver with white stripes, and returning Bayside Blue, perhaps the buyer’s favourite one. To further differentiate it with the regular model, a mark of “50th Anniversary” is embossed at the rear, and also a metal emblem is fixed just below the GT-R sign.

When it comes to the new GT-R cabin styling, the model gets a special grey colour, and a different steering wheel design. Along with the unique colour combination, the cabin is adorned with Alcantara headliner with unique stitching, revised shift knob trim, and a dedicated panel on the centre console.

Unlike the designing front, the model is powered by the same 3.8-litre turbocharged V6 unit, which is capable of generating 565 PS of power and 633 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

One interesting thing about the VR38DETT engine is that a specialized team of engineers assemble it by hand at Nissan’s Tochigi manufacturing plant. Moreover, the engineers also marked their names on the engines made by them.
