Fortuner Not Vios is Toyota Top Seller in 2017 - Report Reveals

MANILA: Toyota Vios is a name that requires no introduction in the Philippines auto arena. Its name is synonyms with trust, quality, and Toyota’s everlasting reliability. In 2017 however, Vios sales were taken over by Fortuner by just a few thousand. Thus, making Toyota Fortuner the best performing car (sales) under company's banner.

Talking about Toyota cumulative sales, the company has bagged the Triple Crown for 2017. This win adds up to Toyota Motor Philippines collection bringing it to a total of 16 awards including the latest milestone. As praised above, Fortuner was the most prominent contributor in this achievement with a total sale of 39,680 units.

In the year 2017, Toyota Motor Philippines made a record-making sale of 183,908 units. It includes both passenger and commercial vehicles, making Toyota overall sales leader in the Philippines.

Further analysis reveals that Toyota Philippines has upped its sales share by 16 percent as compared to 2016. The company holds a significant 38.8 percent auto sales share in the Philippines. Also, January 2018 sales reports are out, and Toyota seems to be topping there as well. So, after a perfect wrap up of 2017, Toyota has hit it hard and high at the very start of 2018 as well.

Reports from CAMPI ( Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc.) and TMA (Truck Manufacturers Association) are out, and it reveals good news for the auto market. As compared to the previous the year market shows a 4 percent improvement with a total of 31,645 units.

Out of the above figure of 31,645 units, Toyota contributed the maximum sales with 13,217 units, i.e., 47,8 percent market share. Others trying to make it big in the sales race include Mitsubishi, Ford, Honda, and Nissan.

However, with such significant lead Toyota shines brightly in the Philippines auto industry and has gripped its customer base with loyalty, quality and affordability. It doesn’t seem long before we’ll be writing a similar story next year.
