Hyundai Motor PH to introduce new Staria Hybrid next month

MANILA:  Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) will formally unveil the latest version of the Staria, which will likely come with a hybrid powertrain option.

Such a speculation comes after the brand’s local arm sent an invitation to Zigwheels Philippines, noting that the soon-to-introduced product will be the “latest addition” to its lineup.

“Premium space is about to get smarter,” HMPH said in the invitation for the event set for July 9. The invitation bore a portion of the front fascia, making the model identifiable.

While HMPH has yet to confirm the details, our claim is supported by the release of a document from the Land Transportation Office in early 2025 covering a Hyundai Staria with a hybrid mill.

No details have been shared as of the time of posting this article, but here are some facts about the anticipated addition to the local Hyundai Staria stable, as seen in the homologation document.

Vehicle specifications

Expected to be called the Hyundai Staria Lounge, the yet-to-be-launched version of the nameplate is powered by a four-pot, 1.6-liter engine with hybrid technology that uses a lithium-ion phosphate battery. 

This powertrain combination has the capacity to deliver up to 241 horsepower that allows the vehicle to reach speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour.

Expected to be the Hyundai Staria’s top-of-the-line trim, the seven-seater van sits on 18-inch wheels shod with 235/55 tires.
