MIAS 2024: MG EV models takes centerstage

MANILA: Morris Garages (MG) Philippines presented its lineup at the ongoing Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2024, headlined by the electric vehicles (EV) ZS EV, EV XPOWER, and Cyberster.

Also in attendance was the IM LS7 from MG’s premium electric car sub-brand.

A total of 12 cars — including the aforementioned nameplates above — graced MG Philippines’ booth at the four-day automotive extravaganza.

“With the biggest and most diverse roster of cars suited for every kind of Filipino motorist, MG is ready to be the Philippines’ top choice for mobility,” MG Philippines President Felix Jiang said. 

“Our showing at this year’s MIAS reinforces exactly what we bring to the table,” he boasted.

MG PH EV roster

MG Philippines’ EV lineup at MIAS 2024 consisted of the ZS EV, an all-electric version of the brand’s popular crossover. It comes with a powerful 130-kilowatt (kW) electric motor and a 51-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery that can deliver a punchy performance.

Its estimated emissions-free driving range is about 320 kilometers (km).

Meanwhile, the MG EV XPOWER comes in as a high-performance all-wheel-drive electric hatchback with a top power of approximately 429 horses. Running on a 64 kWh battery, the vehicle can run from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in around 3.8 seconds.

The MG Cyberster was also in attendance. The brand’s first-ever all-electric roadster packs a 77kwh electric battery and all-wheel-drive dual motors.

To top it all off, the MG Cyberster gets a wrap-around triple screen and zero gravity seats packed in a stylish two-door convertible body with a power-folding roof.

MG Philippines is also displaying the MIFA 9 large electric minivan with a 90kWh battery. The MIFA 9 is a seven-seater luxury van with high-tech features.

IM LS7

As we’ve briefly covered above, the IM LS7 is an EV from MG’s premium electric car brand.

It packs a power eclectic motor that puts out as much as 569 horsepower with 725 Newton-meters of torque. It can reach an acceleration speed of zero to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds.

Range, MG Philippines pointed out, is up to 530 km.

Other notable features of the IM LS7 include Continental-branded air suspensions, damping control from Bilstein, a front four-piston fixed caliper from Brembo, and sturdy high-performance EV tires straight from Michelin.

The IM LS7 also has an adjustable 42-inch triple screen, a set of zero-gravity seats, a 24-speaker sound system, and the first-ever pre-site deodorization and formaldehyde removal.

“The LS7 will enter the Philippine market very soon and set a new benchmark in the segment, and we’re excited that we can talk about the manifestation of our ambition to embrace the new track of intelligent electrification,” Jiang noted.

MG PH ICE lineup

On top of the brand’s EV offerings, it also showcased its internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered models.

The roster includes the MG3, MG One, MG 7, RX9, G50, MG5, and ZS.
