Mitsubishi Stanta Rosa plant gets new 35,000 unit capacity stamping facility
MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors is a strong player in the Philippines auto arena and has continuously been taken steps to improve its offering in the country - either via introducing new cars or increasing its in-house production. In one such measure, Mitsubishi inaugurated a new Stamping facility at 2015 opened Santa Rosa Plant, Laguna.
With its latest move, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation has made it clear how serious the Japanese automaker is about taking the most advantage of the fast-growing Philippines auto market. Also, the automaker is contributing to the economy by yielding greater job opportunities for Filipinos. The MMPC’s St. Rosa Plant has generated 600 jobs since its opening in January 2015, and the figure is expected to hike thanks to the newly opened Stamping stop.
Key points about Mitsubishi Philippines new Stamping shop -
- Mitsubishi Philippines has chosen its Laguna-based plant as the site for company's new stamping shop
- The automaker has fitted the newly opened Stamping facility with the biggest stamping machine in the country
- With its state-of-the-art stamping machine, the shop would be able to produce 35,000 units of Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 sedan.
- The shop will operate in two shifts per day to achieve the high targets.
With this new intervention, Mitsubishi Philippines is making its stand clear on strengthening and localising its manufacturing base in the country. Also, Mitsubishi was the first automaker to sign up for Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program. Under the said program of Philippines government, Mitsubishi would be producing 200,000 units of Mirage G4 and Mirage by the year 2023.
On setting the new milestone, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, MMPC President, and CEO said, “The opening of our new Stamping shop is the beginning of a new chapter in the story of Mitsubishi Motors’ operations here in the Philippines. This Stamping shop enables us to turn the aspiration of localised production into a reality, further building our presence in the Philippines, at the same time as strengthening our offering to consumers.”
Along with the opening of new Stamping shop, Mitsubishi Philippines has more exciting news to share. The officials announced that the company had finalised its decision to increase Mirage production by 35%, this will further help Mitsubishi reach its production goal as decided under the CARS program.
