Suzuki Fronx gets 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating

MANILA: The Suzuki Fronx has received a five-star rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

In a statement, the assessors shared that the compact crossover garnered an overall score of 77.7 points.

The said rating was achieved after the model earned the following scores in four differing categories:

The ASEAN NCAP noted that the Suzuki Fronx came from Indonesia intended for its host country as well as Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Allowing the model to reach such a score are standard fitments such as:

• Six airbags
• Electronic Stability Control
• Anti-lock Braking System
• Seatbelt Reminder System for both front and rear occupants
• Pedestrian Protection
• ISOFIX for child seats

According to Suzuki Motor Corporation Chief Engineer for Product Planning and Automobile B&C Segment Division Takashi Yokoyama the vehicle is inspired from thoroughbred horses.

Its top-spec trim is propelled by a 1.5-liter K15C inline-four gasoline engine paired with a 12-volt hybrid system (electric motor and a lithium-ion battery) that can deliver:

Power is sent to its front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
