Zigwheels PH weekly wrap: October 13-17, 2025

The local and global automotive industry saw plenty of developments and movements in the third week of October 2025. Several brands have brought in updated nameplates to the Philippine market, while a vast majority have announced what they are showcasing at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025. 

So, for those who want to catch up on the latest car news, here is Zigwheels Philippines' weekly wrap from October 13-17, 2025. 

Local launches

Hyundai Stargazer, Stargazer X

Hyundai Motor Philippines has rolled out the updated version of the Stargazer and Stargazer X. Both nameplates received a more athletic-looking front end, more safety gear, and a lineup of new creature comforts.

Global car launches

Kia EV5

Kia has expanded its new energy vehicle (NEV) lineup with the all-electric EV5 crossover. It boasts a maximum power output of 215 horsepower, as well as a cruising range of 530 kilometers (km).

Nissan N6, Teana

Dongfeng - Nissan has unveiled the all-new N6 and the next-generation Teana sedans for the Chinese market. No specs have been disclosed for the two sedans for now, but both get modern exterior designs and plenty of advanced features.

Upcoming local launches

Toyota Ativ

One of the biggest upcoming launches in October, if not the year, is the Toyota Ativ Hybrid. It will be sold alongside its fellow sedan, the Toyota Vios, and will be offered with a price ranging from P980,000-P1.198 million. 

Its top-spec variant is the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), which uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder mill, paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. Power is sent to its front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Mitsubishi Destinator

Another significant upcoming introduction for the Philippine market is the Mitsubishi Destinator. The aforementioned was confirmed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, which further indicated that its official local launch is scheduled this month.

To note, the Mitsubishi Destinator is a three-row nameplate derived from the DST concept car, which was first unveiled at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show. Its global debut, meanwhile, was held in Indonesia a few months ago.

Upcoming global launches

Nissan Navara, Tekton

Ahead of its global debut on November 19, 2025, Nissan Motor Corporation has provided a sneak peek of the next-generation Navara pickup truck. Australia will get first dibs on the model, and it promises to be a nameplate that will “defy the ordinary.”

Likewise previewed by the Japanese marque is the Tekton - a compact crossover that wears similar design cues as the much larger Nissan Patrol.

JMS 2025 previews

Ahead of the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2025, more than a handful of brands have provided previews of what their respective booths will show off. 

In the third week of October 2025, Toyota kicked off the rally of JMS 2025 previews by releasing teasers for the Century coupe, GR GT, Daihatsu Midget X, Lexus Luxury Space, and future Corolla concept cars. 

Isuzu, meanwhile, offered a teaser for the updated Giga heavy-duty truck. The Japanese truck specialist will also showcase the Vertical Core Cycle Concept (VCCC) - a modular platform representing the brand’s commercial of the future. 

Suzuki, on the other hand, provided a glimpse of its upcoming concept car and motorcycle debuts at JMS 2025. Some of the most notable include the Vision e-Sky, e-Every, the Front flex fuel vehicle (FFV), the e-Address scooter, and the hydrogen-powered Burgman - among others. 

Also gearing up for JMS 2025 is Yamaha, with five concept vehicles and several others to showcase. Mitsubishi has likewise teased its impending electrified vehicle launch at the Japan-based motor show, as did Nissan, which has already confirmed that it is launching the next-gen Elgrand and updated Ariya at this year’s JMS. 

Local industry updates

In the third week of October 2025, Tesla Philippines announced that it had already sold more than 2,000 vehicles since it entered the market back in November 2024. 

In the aftermath of the earthquake in Cebu, Isuzu Philippines Corporation, BYD Cars Philippines, and VinFast Philippines mobilized to provide aid to those who were affected. 

The Land Transportation Office also saw a significant development when Markus Lacanilao was appointed as its new chief.

Furthermore, Ford Philippines commenced its third Ford Island Conquest (FIC) this year at Ayala Malls Solenad. During the said event, the Blue Oval highlighted the Mustang Mach-E.

Geely Motors Philippines also strengthened its aftersales network thanks to its ongoing partnership with logistics player SF Philippines. 

Last but not least for local industry updates, Morris Garages (MG) Motor Philippines has rolled out a P10,000 cash discount promo for car buyers who have test-driven their rides. 

Global industry updates

In the global scene of the automotive industry, the third week of October 2025 kicked off with the BYD Seal receiving a five-star rating from the Asean New Car Assessment Program.

Honda, on the other hand, announced that it has sold its 15th-millionth CR-V unit globally - a fitting milestone to celebrate the nameplate’s 30th anniversary. 

A total of 38 brands are poised to join the Singapore Motorshow in 2026, to be held at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Center.

Porsche’s Formula E team has adopted a new name to reflect its deeper relationship with TAG Heuer. Henceforth, the said team is now known as the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.

Geely Holding Group announced that it has breached the 3 million mark when it comes to year-to-date unit sales in the first nine months of 2025. Meanwhile, the limited-edition Aprilia RSV4 X-GP, limited to just 30 units, has sold out in a mere 14 days.
