Yamaha Mio i 125: Things we like
The Yamaha Mio i 125 needs little introduction. As an affordable, stylish and practical automatic scooter for youngsters and commuters, it has been ruling the sales charts for quite some time. Yamaha currently sells the scooter in two different variants that can be identified by their different color options. Here are some of the things we like about this stylish scooter.
Stylish appeal
When a product is aimed at the youth, it has to look stylish. The base scooter comes in four trendy colors – blue, yellow, magenta, and vibrant orange. The stop & start system equipped variant comes in white and black. The trendy tribal style graphics and embossed 3D emblem up its style quotient even higher. The design also features elements inspired by the letter M that give it a dynamic personality.
The front fascia and the rear grab rail are both in the shape of the letter M that add some aggressive angular edginess. The body panels, the rakish tail section, the sporty silencer, and even the instrument display add small touches to the style theme. And if the sales figures are any indication, this style is liked by today’s youth a lot.
Built for fuel efficiency
Apart from styling and practicality, scooters like these need to score high on fuel efficiency. And thankfully the Yamaha Mio i 125 specs include many such features. The 125 cc force air cooled and fuel injected Blue Core engine produces 9.4 hp of power at 8000 rpm and 9.6 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. This is the perfect amount of power for commuters and people who are new to riding. More importantly, the engine easily delivers around 45 kmpl of fuel economy. In order to achieve this figure, Yamaha has used many different technologies.
The Blue Core engine get more optimized combustion thanks to improved valves. Its compact hemispherical combustion chamber allows a higher compression ratio and therefore higher power. DiASil cylinders use aluminium for thrice the cooling efficiency of steel. A piston cooler transfers oil to the pistons for even better cooling. A roller rocker arm and lightweight forged pistons reduce friction for smoother operation. The rider is always kept informed of the best engine speed for fuel economy through an eco-indicator on the instrument panel. If you go for the variant with the stop & start system you can ramp up the fuel efficiency even higher.
This system shuts off the engine after if it has been idling for 5 seconds, avoiding unnecessary combustion of fuel. This system can also be turned off from the handlebars if the rider finds it too intrusive. With the quick start system, starting the engine is equally easy and safe for the battery. The stand itself acts as a turn off switch for the engine and shuts it off when it is used.
Big on practicality
Being primarily an urban automatic scooter, practicality needs to big on the Mio’s list of priorities. Yamaha has delivered it in every conceivable way. Firstly, it is very easy to ride in city traffic. Its dimesons are compact and it is also light on feet. It weighs in fact, around 92 kg with all the fluids and fuel, which makes it very easy to maneuver around tight traffic. The 1260 mm wheelbase easily shifts about on 14-inch wheel. The suspension performs very well on bad roads. The disc brake in the front ensures easy and safe stops. The relaxed upright seating position does not tire the rider even on relatively long journeys.
The Mio also comes with a very practical 10 litres of storage under the seat that is enough for two raincoats and a jacket. With the integrated keyhole shutter, owners of the Mio i 125 can rest assured that their scooter is safe and sound even when parked in the open. With the answer back system on the key, they can also find their scooter in the most crowded parking lots at the press of a button.
Most importantly though, Yamaha Mio i 125 price of just Php 70900 for the standard variant and Php 74900 for the start & stop system equipped variant. This means that such a well-equipped, stylish and efficient scooter is available to its buyers for very cheap prices. With all these features and benefits, it is not difficult to understand why the Yamaha Mio i 125 is such a big success story.
