2017 Honda CR-V makes global debut

MANILA: After successfully launching the next generation Honda Civic and BR-V in different markets, the next big thing from this Japanese automaker is the updated CR-V. Yes, Honda has finally unveiled the 2017 CR-V with refreshed exterior and interior styling. On the exterior styling front, the 2017 Honda CR-V features a new grille whose design resembles that of Civic’s one while the headlights are akin to those seen on Acura cars. At the rear, the tail lamps are angled and the rear end is finished in a much more premium style.

Overall, the design of the updated CR-V matches the standards set for the new Civic, which is evident from the sharp creases and bold stance. In the cabin, new air vents, a digital instrument cluster, and wooden inserts look nice while the increased dimensions of this CR-V have lead to a more spacious cabin. The CR-V also features a shifter, which adds to the driver comfort while passenger legroom at the rear has been increased by 2 inches. A large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is another addition with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The other features of 2017 CR-V include dual zone climate controls, remote engine start, electric parking brake, heated side mirrors, 8-way power adjusted driver seat and 4-way power adjusted front passenger seat.

Powering the 2017 Honda CR-V is a new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine which delivers 190 hp maximum power and 243 Nm torque. The engine is mated to CVT with Honda G-Shift control logic, which sends the power to all four wheels. The CR-V will continue to compete against the likes of Chevrolet Equinox, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape. The prices of the 2017 Honda CR-V is not announced yet but, it is expected to be on a slightly higher side from the existing version. In the Philippines, City special edition and Honda BR-V were launched at the 2016 PIMS and now with the unwrapping of the 2017 Honda CR-V, this car has joined the waiting list of Filipinos.
