Toyota Wigo is Model of the Year for the third time

MANILA: Toyota Wigo after 2015 and 2017, has grabbed the Model of the Year (MOY) award in 2018 for the third time now. Along with the MOY award, the hatchback from the Japanese stable is also the 2018 Automobile of the Year (AOY). The Wigo won the title after topping the charts in the public survey, Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards (AFPCA). Toyota Wigo scored 3,316.2 points, leaving behind the Mitsubishi Montero Sport that scored 2,863 points.

Coming to the AFPCA, the scores of the survey had a contribution of an online people’s choice poll (80%) and the sales figures of the cars (20%). With help from the Land of Transportation Office (LTO), Stradcom Corporation provided the sales data to the survey.

There were many more categories in which other vehicles grabbed the trophies. Ford Mustang clinched the title in the sports car genre. The Navara won Pickup of the Year award for the fourth time after 2008, 2010, and 2011. The Nissan Urvan sailed ahead in the MPV segment. While Mitsubishi Montero grabbed the title in the SUV category.

In the luxury category, Audi R8 V10 came on top as the Sports Car of the Year. For luxury MPV segment, the Honda Odyssey clinched the title for the third time. Along with Sedan of the Year title, the Lexus IS350 also got the Model of the Year (MOY) award for the fifth time in a row.
