Zigwheels PH's February 2025 wrap-up

MANILA: The local automotive industry has shown no signs of stopping this month of February. While the start of the year went full steam ahead, Valentine’s Month also saw plenty of car launches and other significant car industry events. 

So, to help readers keep on top of the most significant car-related developments for the month, here’s Zigwheels Philippines’ wrap-up for February. 

Launches

Mini Aceman EV, Cooper 5-Door

Mini Philippines, under the management of the Autohub Group of Companies, has officially launched the new Cooper 5-Door and the all-new Aceman electric vehicle (EV) for the local market. 

The Cooper 5-Door is an update of the well-known nameplate, and it received a slick and more modernized look, as well as additional creature comforts. 

The Aceman, on the other hand, is positioned as the direct replacement of the Clubman, and it joins the Countryman and Cooper in the marque’s local lineup of all-electric offerings. 

Pricing for the Cooper 5-Door starts at P3.799 million, while the all-new Aceman retails at P3.55 million.

Geely relaunch 

Geely Motor Philippines, now under the direct management of its mother company, has relaunched for the local market. 

Along with its local re-introduction, the Chinese marque’s local arm also introduced the updated versions of the Emgrand and Coolray. It likewise previewed the upcoming EX5 - an all-electric five-seater crossover and the brand’s first dip in the new energy vehicle arena.

Omoda, Jaecoo formal introduction

Omoda and Jaecoo have finally launched for the Philippines. Its initial lineup of products includes the C5, E5, and EJ6.

At the brand’s launch event, the two brand’s Chief Executive Officer, Xiantian Shen, also highlighted its current dealership network consisting of facilities located in Pasig, Alabang, Manila, Santa Rosa, Cebu, and Tagum.

Limited-edition BMW 520i now in PH

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation, the official distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines, has introduced the limited-edition 520i sedan. 

As of its launch, the model, which will be “available for a short time only,” is priced at P3.99 million. It comes with a sleek exterior and a well-equipped cabin with loads of creature comforts. 

Here’s a table showing the engine output figures of the limited BMW 520i:

Dealers starts all-new Yamaha Nmax reservations

While it has yet to be officially launched, Yamaha Motor Philippines Incorporated has already started accepting pre-orders for the all-new Nmax maxi-scooter. 

To note, the said version is the same one that was recently introduced in Indonesia, and it uses an updated 155 cubic centimeter (cc) motor capable of producing up to 15 hp and 14.2 Nm of torque.

Limited-run Mazda MX-5 35 Anniversary Edition

Mazda Philippines has debuted the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition trim at the 2025 Sports Cars for a Cause charity event. Following the aforementioned, the brand will be displaying the car at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati City, until March 2. 

For the local market, only 15 units of the special MX-5 variant will be sold. It is priced at P2.49 million, and it wears choice decorative bits for added visual flair.

Tesla PH refreshes Model Y

Tesla Philippines has brought in the updated version of the Model Y. It received a new exterior look, making it more similar to the Cybertruck, and it likewise gained a whole slew of new on-board features, as well as a limited-run “Launch Series” variant. 

Pricing for the updated Model Y starts at P2.369 million for the entry-level rear-wheel-drive trim. The top-spec Long Range all-wheel-drive trim, on the other hand, retails for P2.689 million.

Updated Ram 1500 Rebel reaches PH shores

Inchcape Philippines has brought in the latest version of the Ram 1500 Rebel for the local market. It received a new engine, a more modern interior, and a better infotainment system.

Next-gen KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles enters local market

After securing the distributorship of KTM and Husqvarna, Lucky MAPI has launched three next-generation rides. The aforementioned includes the KTM Duke 390, as well as the Husqvarna 401 Svartpilen and Vitpilen. 

All three motorcycles are priced at P309,000, and all utilize a 399 cc engine capable of making up to 44 hp and 39 Nm of torque.

Isuzu  S, E Series revealed at 2025 Truck Fest

Isuzu Philippines Incorporated has officially introduced the S&E Series of heavy-duty trucks for the local market. Examples of the nameplate are displayed at the 2025 Isuzu Truck Fest held at the SMX Convention Center until March 2.

Dealership openings

Nissan in Parañaque City

Nissan Philippines has opened its latest dealership in Sucat, Parañaque City. With its new showroom, the brand will have reinforced its reach in the National Capital Region. 

Established in partnership with Synergyauto Ventures Corporation (SVC), it is a 3S (sales, service, spare parts) facility with a total floor space of 2,200 square meters.

BAIC PH in Central Luzon, Laguna

BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation) Philippines has expanded its dealership network with the opening of its new outlets in Bacolor, Pampanga, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna. 

The new outlet in Pampanga is owned and operated by the Rising Cars Corporation - a subsidiary of the Laus Group of Companies. It is a full-service hub that also boasts a premium showroom experience. 

The newly inaugurated BAIC Sta. Rosa, on the other hand, is managed by Antara Ventures Incorporated. It is poised to provide new mobility solutions to the residents of the said city.

Suzuki Auto breaks ground in Iloilo and Bais City

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) has broken ground for its upcoming dealerships in Iloilo and Bais City. The one in Iloilo is under the management of Grand Canyon Multi Holdings, and it is set to expand the brand’s presence in Western Visayas. 

The upcoming outlet in Bais City, on the other hand, is owned and operated by GUD Moto Trading Incorporated.

Once built, the upcoming Suzuki Oton in Iloilo will have a 200-square-meter showroom and a 500-square-meter service area.

Suzuki Bais, meanwhile, will have five service bays, as well as a showroom capable of displaying up to seven cars.

BYD Cars Batangas opens

BYD Cars Philippines has opened a new dealership in Batangas. Managed by Harmony Auto Philippines, the newly inaugurated outlet features an elegant-looking showroom, a customer-centric lounge, and a fully equipped service center.
