  • About Mitsubishi Philippines

    Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is one of the country’s longest-running automotive manufacturers. The brand has built a reputation with its wide range of offerings in quilty build vehicles, providing the automotive industry with excellent chart-topping sales digit over the years.   

    The manufacturer began its operations on May 5, 1964, in co-operation with the formerly Chrysler Philippines Corporation. Fast forward to 2020, Mitsubishi Motors maintains over 50 dealerships in the Philippines. MMPC gets its headquarter’s in Santa Rosa City, Laguna where the manufacturer also operates a vehicle assembly plant.

    In May 1972, C.J. Yulo & Sons acquired 65% interest in Chrysler Philippines Corporation, with the balance 35% being acquired by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and Nissho Iwai Corporation (now Sojitz Corporation). In 1974, the company began introducing Mitsubishi cars in the Philippines. In 1978, the company was renamed Canlubang Automotive Resources Corporation (CARCO)

    Taking a step ahead to the future of automobiles in the Phillippines, the manufacturer boasts a new line-up, representing some major technological advancements and a new plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna. With the company’s commitment to excellence and sustainability, the cars produced by Mitsubishi Motors will be manufacturing in the near future will embody two major concepts: “driving pleasure” and “safety”.

    A major consideration under the plan of “New Stage 2016”, the decision for a manufacturing plant will be creating additional job opportunities to the existing nine hundred workforces. Producing super compact units like the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 subcompacts, the manufacturer had recently set their sales record at 1 million units and projected annual growth of 10 percent.

    Looking forward to 2020, Mitsubishi Motors will manufacture cars that deliver superior driving performance and superior levels of safety and durability, to provide its customers with enjoyable riding experience and peace of mind.

    The MMPC has several best-sellers in its lineup, these include the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4, the Xpander small MPV, the Montero Sport midsize SUV, the Strada midsize pickup, the full-size Pajero SUV, and the L300 commercial vehicle.

    Lastly, the brand puts two letters together to form the basis of its variant naming scheme, the letters G and L, designating the base model in the lineup. This set of characters is then followed by an X for affordable variants, S for mid-tier variants, and the L is dropped in favour of a T for high-end variants. In summation, the hierarchy is as follows: GL, GLX, GLS, GT.
