MANILA: With the Manila International Auto Show just around the corner, every autogeek is glued to the digital media for latest happenings and models that would be centre staged at the upcoming motor fiesta. A lot of speculations are doing rounds around the automotive world and local enthusiasts, regarding what to expect from major manufacturers at the MIAS 2016, whose doors are set to go wide from 7th April. One such speculation is of the Mazda MX-5 coupe, which is eagerly awaited by the Philippines auto market. Here are a few things that Mazda lovers would love to know about the MX-5 coupe.

Cosmetic upgrades

With the little information we have on the upcoming MX-5 coupe, we can infer that the design elements of the roadster would be same as we have witnessed in the previous models. Owing to the fact that more than 50% of people prefer a hardtop, the Japanese automaker is keen on integrating a roof to the vehicle, which would certainly help in serving the cause of theft and weather conditions.

Engine tweaks

As far as MX-5 coupe’s powertrain is concerned, the chances of any alterations on the same are equal to zero, as the new MX-5 is expected to feature the same 2.0-litre SkyActiv engine four-cylinder engine that can churns out a max power of 167 hp alongside a peak torque of 190 Nm. Information about the transmission options are also vague, with speculations suggesting a presence of a manual as well automatic gearbox.

Interior expectations

The cockpit is expected to be same as the previous model with few minor tweaks here and there to increase the refinement coefficient. The large 7-inch infotainment system is likely to be present at the centre with connectivities like USB, bluetooth and Aux-in. Despite the reduced wheelbase and length, the roominess inside the cabin has been kept intact.

Mazda MX-5 is a moniker that has made itself a cult following across the globe over the last few years. But owing to all above features, this new Mazda roadster will definitely justify the respect and reputation that has been accumulated by its predecessor.
