Mitsubishi Xpander gaining popularity in the Philippines, gets 2000 confirm orders

MANILA: Mitsubishi Xpander was one of the biggest launches of Q1 2018. Back then, one question that struck everyone's mind was - Will it be able to compete in the already packed SUV segment? As per the recent performance reports, the Xpander seems to be fast becoming Montero Sport alike for the company on the sales front.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation informed that till date it has received as many as 2000 confirm bookings for the Xpander. Many of which we think were made during the GoPro Xpander promo that ended on 31st March. This shows Filipinos strong liking towards adventure gears, and when it’s an SUV and camera paired together the deal is a sure hit.

However, in this happy story is present a small bump. Despite the strong market response, Mitsubishi Philippines has not yet delivered any unit of Xpander in the country. The reason for which they say is the high demand for the car in Indonesia, where it is manufactured at the Mitsubishi Krama Yudha plant. This factory produces 160,000 units of selected Mitsubishi vehicles per year, supplied to both local dealerships and exported to the Philippines and Thailand.

According to our resources in Indonesia, the local demand for the Xpander has crossed 60,000 marks, and therefore, the plant is struggling to manage its domestic and export demand. However, in the near future, the company assures to achieve the demand and supply proportion and start with the delivery process.

For customers who have booked or are planning to buy the Xpander can expect the car to arrive by early- or mid-May.
