Team Mitsubishi Ralliart gets AXCR 2025 crown

MANILA: Team Mitsubishi Ralliart regained the top spot at this year’s Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR).

On board the rally-spec number 112 Mitsubishi Triton, the duo of Chayapon Yotha and Peerapong Sombutwong completed all eight legs of the competition with the overall fastest time of 16:15:12.

Earlier, the team — led by Team Director Hiroshi Masuoka — expressed its intention of reclaiming the victory at the event this year.

Placing second was the ACXR 2024 champions Team Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand’s tandem of Mana Pornsiricherd and Kittisak Klinchan using a competition-ready Hilux.

Feeliq Innovation Motorsport’s Bailey Cole and Sinoppong Trairat took the third spot at the podium using a Ford Ranger Raptor.

Here are the provisional results for the three after covering a total distance of 3,247.72 kilometers:

Meanwhile, other members of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart like the Katsuhiko Taguchi-Takahiro Yasui tandem as well as Kazuto Koide-Eiji Chiba duo were at fifth and 22nd spots, respectively.

Such results allowed the team to secure the overall team victory ahead of Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand (second place) and Isuzu Suphan Yokohama Liqui Moly Racing Team (third).

PH-retailed Mitsubishi Triton

Making its global debut as the XRT Concept, the Mitsubishi Triton had its local debut at the 2023 Auto Focus Pre-Christmas Test Drive Festival (AFPCTDF). However, sales for the aforementioned pick-up truck started in January the following year.

A bone-stock Mitsubishi Triton is powered by a 2.4-liter bi-turbo diesel engine that can dish out as much as 201 horses and 470 Nm.
