Meet the Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series

MANILA: Black accents on the outside and an all-black interior always enhance the sporty-ness of a car, right? With the SUV segment witnessing a boom and the Montero Sport a not so new car, the Japanese automaker has given its popular SUV a new flair. The newness on the Montero Sport comes in the form of a new Black Series model, which features more black both on the outside and the inside.

The new-ish model is based on the GLS 2WD A/T variant and gets black front and rear under garnish, black roof rails, black 18-inch alloy wheels, and a black front grille. There are also LED headlamps with built-in LED DRLs. Moreover, if you crave for even more sportiness, you can go for the White Pearl color option that brings along a blacked-out roof. An emblem that spells “Montero Sport” on the hood further enhances the personality of the SUV.

On the inside, the Mitsubishi Montero Sport features a new illuminated scuff plate and a “Montero Sport” emblem. Pop the hood open and the powertrain remains the same as before. Powering the Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series is the same old 2.4-litre diesel-fed engine that produces 181 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 430 Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission continues to take care of the power delivery duties. Safety features on the SUV include dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, camera, and parking sensors.

Based on the GLS 2WD A/T variant, the Montero Sport Black Series receives a price hike of Php 31,000 and a price tag of Php 1,800,000. The two available color options include Jet Black Mica and White Pearl. In case you prefer the White Pearl with a blacked-out roof, be ready to pay Php 15,000 more than the suggested price for the Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series.
