Zigwheels PH monthly wrap: August 2025

MANILA: The month of August in 2025 saw a lot of movements in the local and global automotive scenes. In the Philippine market alone, Zigwheels Philippines has reported nine car launches, accompanied by more than a dozen motorcycle introductions within the month. 

On a more global scale, we saw the commencement of the 2025 Asia Rally Cross Championship, the 2025 Monterey Car Week, and record-breaking sales figures accomplished by a number of brands. 

So, with the eight month of the year now behind us, let’s have a summary of the biggest happenings in the car and motorcycle industry.

Local launches

Toyota Yaris Cross SE

The Toyota Yaris Cross SE entered the Philippine market with a suggested retail price of P1.69 million. As of its launch, it now stands as the top-spec trim of the Yaris Cross nameplate.

Ford Territory Hybrid, Mustang Mach-E

Ford Philippines officially introduced the all-new Territory Hybrid and Mustang Mach-E as the company’s opening salvo for its line of electrified and fully electric offerings.

Yamaha Aerox

The month of August saw the introduction of the all-new Yamaha Aerox. As of its launch, it has a price ranging from P125,900-P163,900.

Suzuki GSX-8T, GSX-8TT

In the eighth month of 2025, Suzuki Philippines Incorporated unleashed the cowled GSX-8TT and the naked GSX-8T. Both feature timeless, retro-inspired designs and a 776-cubic-centimeter, four-cycle, parallel engine.

Hongqi E-HS9, E-QM5

Another big launch for the Philippine market in August was conducted by Hongqi Philippines with the E-HS9 sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the E-QM5 sedan. The SUV retails at P6.48 million, while the sedan nameplate is priced at P1.88 million.

Jaecoo J7 SHS

Likewise launched for the local market in August is the all-new Jaecoo J7 SHS - a plug-in hybrid crossover with a price ranging from P1.449 million-P1.549 million.

Chery Tiggo Cross HEV

Within the month, Chery Auto Philippines also expanded its electrified lineup with the introduction of the Tiggo Cross HEV. The model currently has an introductory price of P1.198 million.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class with EQ Technology

On the luxury electric vehicle (EV) side of the industry, Mercedes-Benz Philippines has formally introduced the all-new G-Class with EQ Technology. It retains the boxy styling of the iconic G-Class, but it is powered by four electric motors for each wheel.

Mitsubishi Xpander

This month, the local multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment saw the introduction of the updated Mitsubishi Xpander. Pricing for the refreshed model ranges from P1.099 million-P1.378 million.

Kove Series

Bristol Motorcycles Philippines has officially launched the Kove lineup for the local market. The said lineup consists of the following models:

• Kove 450 RR Pro
• Kove 525 X
• Kove 800X
• Kove ADX 180
• Kove AX180

Mini John Cooper Works lineup

Mini Philippines has unveiled its latest lineup of John Cooper Works (JCW) models for the local market. The aforementioned includes the JCW versions of the Mini 3-Door, Mini Electric, Mini Aceman, Mini Convertible, and Mini Countryman All4.

Lynk & Co 08 EM-P

Lynk & Co Philippines also revealed the pricing of the EM-P 08 after its initial preview at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show. Pricing for the said model starts at P2.498 million.

Global launches

Ford Bronco 60th Anniversary Package

In August, Ford held the global launch of the Bronco 60th Anniversary Package. The limited edition model’s mechanical bits remain the same, but it received commemorative touches to celebrate the nameplate’s 60th Anniversary.

Updated Geely EX5

Geely has introduced its first set of major upgrades for the EX5 EV. Most of the said improvements include tech-related improvements and safety equipment.

Nissan X-Trail NISMO

Nissan has rolled out the X-Trail NISMO in Japan. It received sporty styling details courtesy of the Yokohama-based company’s in-house tuning company. Plus, it comes equipped with an e-4ORCE (all-wheel-drive) system that was boosted for a rear-wheel-drive power delivery bias.

Lamborghini Fenomeno

Automobili Lamborghini has pulled the curtains off the all-new Fenomeno at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. The aforementioned model is a limited-edition nameplate with only 29 examples to be manufactured by the Italian brand.

Dodge Charger

Dodge has introduced the internal combustion version of its all-new Charger. It is powered by a twin-turbo inline-six engine capable of making up to 550 horsepower.

Global industry updates

In August, the global automotive industry saw huge developments, as mentioned above. First, Toyota reported that it sold approximately 5.544 million cars worldwide from January to June 2025. The manufacturing giant likewise opened a new plant in Euhuocho, Toyota City.

Honda, meanwhile, provided a first glimpse of the next-generation Prelude ahead of its September 2025 launch. 

Mitsubishi, meanwhile, made huge waves when Team Mitsubishi Ralliart won the 2025 Asia Cross Country Rally with the Triton pickup truck. 

Hyundai also announced its new partnership with General Motors, which will result in the introduction of five new models destined for several global markets. 

In India, Suzuki has partnered with Tata Elxsi to open its new Cloud HIL Center. The said facility will help create faster and more efficient means of developing vehicle electric control units.

Nissan also announced the end of production of the famed R35 GT-R, though it was confirmed that a new version will be introduced in the future. 

KTM also announced the resumption of manufacturing operations at its plant in Mattighofen, Austria. 

At the Monterey Car Week, specifically The Quail, Lexus showcased the Sport Concept. At the week-long event’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Bentley likewise displayed the EXP 15 concept vehicle. 

Local industry updates

New car dealerships

August also saw the rise of new dealerships in the Philippines. First is the new Mitsubishi service and spare parts facility operated by the Diamond Motor Corporation in Marikina City. 

Hyundai Motor Philippines Incorporated, together with Performance Motoring Group Incorporated, has established a new outlet for the Korean brand in Calamba, Laguna. 

The United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated, together with The Beatitude Auto Group, likewise established new BAIC and Lynk & Co dealerships in North EDSA. 

Inchcape also shared its plan to open five new Changan dealership facilities across Luzon between the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026. 

Toyota Motor Philippines is likewise poised to open a new service center in Marilao, Bulacan. 

Car promos

For the month of August, more car brands rolled out discount programs for car owners whose rides were affected by inclement weather. The aforementioned includes Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’ “Support on Standby” program and Suzuki Motor Philippines’ “Flood Support Program.”

Other promos introduced in August are Honda’s “Live Your Dream, Drive Forward,” which provided deals for various models until the end of the month, Lynk & Co’s “Euro-Spec, Global Drive” promo and its discounts of up to P410,000, PGA Cars’ trade-in deals, and Lexus Philippines’ personalized packages. 

JMC Philippines also offered up to P260,000 in discounts for the Grand Avenue.

Other local updates

In August, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) revealed the year-to-date sales growth of the local automotive industry. 

Within the same month, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines established Mitsubishi Motors Finance Philippines Incorporated. We also witnessed the commencement of the Yamaha Motor Show 2025, Li Auto PH’s role as the mobility partner for GMA Gala 2025, and the return of the Hyundai Mobility Experience to Cebu. 

Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines also held the final leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup. At the said event, the Lexus LBX was showcased as a safety car, and it was also announced that the next-gen Tamaraw will be utilized in one-make races in future iterations of the event. 

Additionally, Zigwheels Philippines confirmed via an interview with a high-ranking Toyota Motor Philippines executive that the all-new Ativ HEV will be added to the brand's local lineup ‘soon.’

It was also implied via a social media post that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines could introduce the all-new Destinator to the local market in the near future. 

Lastly, Enkei Wheels has officially entered the Philippines through a partnership with Wheel Gallery Incorporated and YHI Philippines Incorporated.
